I don't recomended to anyone.

My husband purchase this vehicle new(2002 Grand Caravan)but as soon as the warranty expired,it sarted to turn on the engine ligths, falling inspection,Ihave expende alot of money on mechanics, and worse of all it,in2006 when we where close to finish paying for it ,we owed like $10,000.00 and it was worth alot less on the blue book,I really need a mini van but i'm getting a Honda Odyssey, thats a good investment and they don't depresiate so fast.

Kind of Disappointed

This was my third minivan (one Plymouth and two Dodge) and I was not happy with all the repairs it needed. It started with the wheel bearings freezing up with only 128 miles on it. I now have 78,000 miles and it has been one thing after another. Fortunately I had an extended warranty to 75,000 miles and I made good use of it. Now that the warranty is over it has been something else about every month. I'm seriously looking to make a change this time.

Just bought this one

So far so good. My wife REALLY likes this car. I really like it too, but was very surprised by the MPG. We had a Toyota Corolla for 4 years, so going to a minivan was a BIG difference in MPG. Bringing it in for its first tune-up since we bought it last week, so maybe the MPG will get better... Great car for the comfort and handling!!

Solid Dependable Family Workhorse

I purchased my 02 Grand Caravan back in June 06 with 200 k (abt 125 k mi). It's the 3.3L, V6, 180 HP Sport Edition. I don't know how Dodge does it but you'd have to search hard to find a minivan that rides smoother, especially in that price range! Even with such a high mileage, it rides and handles like a brand new car. When you take it on the highway, you realize this rig was born for cross country cruising! The performance could've been better, it seems sometimes like the 180 horses aren't enough for sudden acceleration at higher speeds especially with some cargo on board. But then again, it's a minivan, not a sports car. If you plan on hauling anything especially on hilly or mountanious roads you should consider the 3.8L. But for simple everyday needs with an occasional haul, the 3.3L will do (nothing too heavy though, you could toast your tranny) The fuel consumption is decent for a vehicle its size: from abt 23-24 MPG (summer, highway) to abt 15-16 MPG (winter, combined, long warm up starts). The only thing I'm worried about is the tranny as they tend to go after abt 100 k mi (mine is still due). Otherwise it's a dependable truck, simple in construction and easy to maintain. I'd rank the exterior design among the best but I do have some reservations regarding the interior. The dash looks a little cheap and there are other details that would need just a few finishing touches. It comes nicely equipped with everything you need including AC, ABS, 2 Airbags, el. windows & (heated) mirrors, 7 speaker CD stereo, on board computer, cruise control, privacy windows etc. This family workhorse is definately a bargain, dependable and comfortable, it sure is the best money for the buck!
