Looking for Recall on Transmission

Im very concerned because the vehicle has barely 20,000 miles on it and it is having transmission issues. I have heard from other vehicle owners that they are having issues as well. I was looking for a recall but apparently GM hasn't done that yet!

Don’t do it

My husband and I purchased this truck two years ago. We really liked the way it looked. We have had to take this truck back to the dealer 3 times already because the engine light keeps coming on and the transmission jerking. The dealership rep says, “We can’t recreate the problem.” This is BS. It’s their product. They know what’s wrong with it. They just don’t want to fix it. They keep telling us you have a good warranty. I said, What good is that if you don’t fix the problem?” We will never buy from GMC again. They’re crooks.

Do not buy GMC

61000 miles 2016 Sierra 1500. 2,800 repair for steering gear box. I do zero hauling and zero off road driving. Complete junk. I will never buy another GMC product again.

GMC no good

My transmission was making noises and I took it to Sheehy in Fredericksburg Virginia to see what is was a week ago and they said the transmission fluid had so much metal in it it was metallic looking. The truck is a 2019 Sierra Denali with only 37,00” miles on it!

GMC NIGHTMARE THAT CONTINUES

The review by drgonzo of his GMC Sierra sounded exactly like what we experienced with our 2021 Sierra SLT. It drove beautifully until we hit 8,000 miles when our lifters suddenly went out and needed replaced. Within weeks our transmission started to spontaneously downshift enough to jerk us forward. That was repaired then same thing happened several weeks later. Transmission replaced then same thing happened several weeks later. Special GM engineer sent in who recommended control module be replaced. DAYS later same sudden downshifting occurred even worse. Truck declared a lemon, GM to replace truck but we have to pay difference. Now we have the impossible task of finding a 2021 satin steel slt CC/short box so our $4000 camper shell (painted satin steel) will fit. I found ONE that is priced $6,000 more than what we paid but it may sell before GM finds us a “host” dealership willing to to do negotiating. Oh, and we will be dinged a usage fee for the 8,000 miles we put on truck.

Professional Grade Garbage

The only thing more disappointing than this vehicle is the customer service at General Motors. I bought a brand-new GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation pickup with the 5.3L engine and have had issues with it from the beginning. On cold mornings the transmission slips when accelerating. Luckily that goes away once the truck warms up. At 8200 miles, lifters on the right side of the engine failed, taking out a push rod and rocker arm. I was informed by the dealership that this was a known issue at GM, but no recall had been issued. If the truck had less than 8000 miles on it, GM would have authorized them to replace the lifters on both sides of the engine. Because GM is cheap and does not do the right thing for their customers, the opposite side of the engine experienced the same failure at the 14,000-mile mark. Also, the alignment was never right on the truck from day one, and by the 12,000-mile mark the front tires had worn so unevenly that they wouldn't pass state inspection. GM refuses to pay for the alignment, or the tires, because I took it to a reputable tire shop rather than the dealership. I would advise anyone to avoid these trucks at all costs. Don't make the same mistake that I did. Be smart and avoid all GM products.

Nicest, best performing truck I've ever owned

My truck has a great appearance, inside and out. It is a pleasure to drive; and rides and performs great. It is the best truck I've ever owned.
