AMAZING PERFORMER

With the passing of Thanksgiving, and recently Christmas, at the dawn of a New Year, it is time to take stock of the past year and be Thankful of All of Our Blessings. This is a significant time for My Family and Our Thoughts of Thanksgiving & Gratefulness include Honda. We are the proud owners of a 2003 Honda Accord Coupe EX. This car has only had Our Family as it owner and was bought new from Cardinal Honda in Groton CT as a Demo by my wife Nicole. The car came with just a couple of hundreds of miles on the odometer. As of this writing it is just about to turn 415,000! The reason for Our Thankfulness is that this car has seen us through a very difficult time of Our Life. You see, for the past 10 years we have been under a very heavy, court ordered alimony payment which has forced us to walk a tightrope shoestring budget without a net! We had no room in our budget to do any preventative maintenance on the car. For the last 300,000 miles, this car has not had any maintenance except for oil changes which were done every 5000 miles sometime more, never less. I?ve gone > 7000 miles between oil changes at times when Our budget warranted it. I?ve changed the brakes and rotors myself, (out of necessity, not because I have great mechanical skills) and occasional new tires. Even now we get 80000 miles on a set of tires. This car STILL has Most of its original parts?it is much easier to tell you what has been replaced on this 15 year old car. I am on the second replacement battery. I?ve had to replace the driver?s side window motor twice and the passenger side once and I believe that I am on the 3rd set of replacement headlight bulbs. The original starter went earlier this year at around 375,000 and the month before the starter went, I had to replace the lower bushing on the driver?s side front wheel. When the bushing went, it pulled out the axle, and that was replaced at the same time as well. That is it! It STILL has the original timing belt as well as all other belts and hoses. It has never had any engine work, no fuel injector work or spark plugs and still runs smooth as silk. It has never had any exhaust work, not even an O2 sensor. The shocks and struts are still original. I got rear ended two times over the last 15 years and had some front and rear body work done on it but the rest of the body is fine surviving NE winters and salted/sanded roads. I can assure you that this car is not pampered except for spending the last 10 years of its Life in a garage. I drive it as hard today as I did the first time I got behind the wheel. I use it daily to commute to work which at this time is just about 70 miles one way from Our home. Let me tell a short story about its durability. Starting just after 350000 miles the low oil pressure indicator light on the dashboard would illuminate in between oil changes. When I checked the oil level I would find that the oil wasn?t even high enough to show on the dipstick. I?d add a quart of oil and continue to drive. For the past 10 years I?ve used the same Quick Lube shop for oil changes, (Uncasville Quick Lube in Uncasville CT). I questioned them about IF they filled the reservoir completely. The shop manager took me into the service area. He said, ?I can?t tell you how much oil this car has in it when it comes into the shop, but I can assure you it is filled when it leaves.? We use a delivery system to deliver the manufacturer?s required amount of oil. He pulled the dipstick from my car and said see all of the golden brown discoloration on the sides of your stick? That is because you run your engine low on oil. Before that revelation, I NEVER checked the oil level between oil changes. Since that time I have found that this car ?uses? a quart of oil every 1500 miles! I CAN?T imagine how little oil was left in the engine when I?ve gone 7000 miles between changes. Yet it has NEVER complained and as I stated earlier STILL runs smooth as silk! AMAZING! We are about to be released of Our financial burden, the court order expires on 12/30/2017, and have no doubt that this car will continue to see us through Our Recovery. IF it ever expires, You know Our plan is to replace it with another Honda. My wife has her eye on a Pilot! We cannot Thank Honda enough for the Product that You Deliver. One of your slogans is ? The Power of Dreams? Is it a Dream to believe this car will go to 500000 and beyond?

Stylish Used Coupe

If you're one of the few 2-door coupe fans still remaining out there, the Honda Accord Coupe is one of your only options. Restyled for 2003, the coupe is swoopy and stylish. With all the expected Honda goodness, it makes an excellent used car. Hint: Get the tan interior, the black one feels like a mine shaft.

Great car

Great Car good value Better than most great gas mileage very comfortable to drive faster than most others.Very in expensive to repair parts readily available still looks as good as new or ones that cost much more. I?ve owned five of them in my lifetime and wouldn?t hesitate to buy another or recommend it to a friend .I don?t think there any other cars out there for the value and price that match this car. I have over 25 years as a GM Mechanic And this old Honda is better engineered then any of the stuff I worked on at the dealership .

Sensible Family Car

Extremely reliable, comfortable for 4 people, and decent looking. Interior is well thought out with all controls easily accessible to the driver. The back seat can comfortably sit 2 adults, and the the trunk can haul all your groceries or luggage. The engine gets the job done, but isn't sporty. On the flipside the car gets great gas mileage and is reliable. Change the oil, brakes, and tires; and this car will go forever. Styling is not offensive, but also not exciting. For what one would pay, this car will do what you ask of it.
