Love this car

I purchased my Civic in 2003 with 106,000 miles on it. I had my doubts about buying a car with that many miles on it, but I had heard Hondas keep going forever so I took the chance. I have been so pleased with the reliability of this car over the past five years. It has needed a few repairs (about $1000 total), but now has 180,000 miles on it and doesn't show any signs of wearing out. I still feel comfortable taking it on cross country roadtrips without fearing a break-down. Of course it doesn't have much pick-up, but it still gets around 30 mpg.

My First Car

I took a chance with this car last year when I got it 10 years old. My main reason for purchasing the Taffeta White spoiler-clad 2 door EX was that it had less than 72,000 miles on it, and the Carfax report was clean. I was a little skeptical of the dealer, but I figured that I couldn't afford NOT to get a Honda at that price (6 grand). And it hasn't disappointed. It has done the 12-hour drive up the I-5 to get me to school and back numerous times and each seamlessly. No mechanical problems to report, the thing is a blast to drive-and more fun than a Corolla, just ask my mom! Moonroof is great, just so long as you don't attempt to fit a surfboard through it! The six speakers sound good, and the interior is exceptional for the year and class this thing resides in. I just put in a K&N replacement air filter, and it has improved already great fuel economy. The V-TEC gives you plenty of acceleration, but sometimes I wish the overdrive would kick in a bit sooner. That said, I would do it all again, this should be the last gas-powered car I own. Can't beat a Honda Civic, especially if you're a broke college student!

Civic EX Coupe: Dependable, Reliable & Economic

My 1998 Civic EX Coupe, manual, standard engine is zippy, and handles very well. The brakes are very strong and responsive. This vehicle takes me from the winding, sometimes country and unpaved roads of the Hollywood Hills to nighttime stretches of the 405 headed to San Pedro, CA with equal ease. My only annoyances are insufficient leg and arm room in the driver's seat for my long limbs, and I have to wrestle with shifter to get it into reverse at times. Other than that, I've been very pleased with this car bought used in 2003 with 37,000 miles. I have put on the additional miles up to its current 125,000 plus miles. I look to keep it to well past 300,000 miles. Go Honda!

Rethinking Purchase

I have owned this car since 2002 when i bought it from a dealer with 75000 now i have around 120000. I have had some problems with it but mostly it has done well for me. Some parts are $$$ for fixing the car. My gas mileage has been slowly going down year to year currently i am getting around 25MPG combine. Now if you want a car with some power to get up and go this is not your car you will be holding the gas pedal down just waiting for some acceleration on the highway. In terms of room this car does not have much the trunk is an ok size but it is hard to get certain things in. Also as far as people room this car does not have much yes i do have a coupe version but still it does have less room compared to other coupes i have been in. If you want a reliable car this is it but if you want something with some room in it and some get and go I would lean towards a Turbo VW Jetta which some of my friends have and they have as many miles on the car as me. They also have had good reliability with it and very good gas mile. My car is also now showing signs of rust in many places even thought i keep it very clean year round i even wash it in the winter to get salt off of it.

Great Car

I couldn't ask for a better car. My Civic exceeds many of my friends cars in gas milage. In a world of high gas prices, the Civic is an absolute must-have. I really enjoy this car when I take road trips. It is an exceptional road trip car, with they exception that comfort on long-lasting trips is something that I desire more of. This car has some performance problems, but it is expected with the small engine manufactured to sip gas. The civic lacks that little push of power to get you going quickly. The air conditioner drains a great deal out of this car. I have had to do very little maitenance on my Civic. It is one of the most reliable vehicles on the road. The little maitenance that I have done is the timing belt, a problem with most Hondas. As long as I keep this car in good shape, I expect to exceed 300,000 miles. It could probably get even more than that!

Good Student Car

I've had my Honda since 2000 and it has been great. I have had little trouble with it, except the exhaust leaking, and having to change the timing belt (a must with most Hondas). The only gripes I have is that it's slow when you're on the interstate trying to manuver around traffic, and having to turn the A/C off to get up a hill. It doesn't have a lot of room for hauling stuff either, I had to borrow my mom's Accord just to get a painting home I bought at the mall b/c my Civic wasn't wide enough. Other than that, it's been awesome. I love how it handles around corners and fits into tight parking spaces.

Reliable at a reasonable price

This is my second Honda Civic, still reliable at a reasonable price. The styling has been copied by many other car makers, and they still don't come close to the reliability already built into these little beasts. A good choice for a student or commuter car.

Pretty good car

It's a good car for someone who needs the gas mileage and the room. It has a pretty nice motor and gets you where you need to be without your gas gauge going down at every stop light.

Honda Civic EX

This car has been extrememly reliable since it was purchased brand new. With minimal matinance and upkeep a Honda can last for years. The best feature is the gas mileage - it is amazing!

This car is a great value and very reliable. My only complaint is that the exhaust system gave me trouble after just a couple years. Mechanics say that exhaust problems are sort of the Achilles' Heel of Hondas and they were not surprised - so put a little extra money aside in anticipation of exhaust repairs! Still a great value.
