One of the best!
This standard 4 door is a dream. Start off with 40mpg on the highway, (42.4 if you hypermile), large amount of headroom (I'm over 6'1"), and a huge trunk for "stuff", this car is a dream to own and drive. And you can pick one up on cars.com for less than $5K. No brainer!!!

Very reliable and can do so much with this car
Never had problems with this car. I fill this car $40 a week and that is that I work 35 minutes away from my home. I have had it for a year and was the best choice I have made

Piece of junk
I thought this would be a maintenance free car - was I wrong! starter went at 40k miles. throttle body went at 45k needed new struts at 15 & 50k now the inside roof matting is falling off. plus have never gotten great mileage. given I do mainly local non-hwy lucky to get 25 mpg. again, the dealers love to show in their repair lounges, the people who have honda with 250k miles. but it does not say how much it cost them to achieve these miles. sadly disappointed. will never buy another honda!!!

50 mpg
Bought this 2001 HX new. Very little maintenance required. Commuting I get 35-37 mpg. On trips at 70 mph it gets 42mpg. If I keep it at or below 62mph I average 50mpg! What's the big deal with new cars getting 30mpg?

Amazing Vehicle!!
I have the 2 door manual civic and I absolutely LOVE it!! There's really nothing at all bad to say about this car! It has a surprising amount of roominess and the power combined with amazing gas milage makes this the perfect car for me! I'm 16 and this is my first car, it's also the first stick shift I've ever driven, and I gotta say, VERY good first impression! It's amazingly fun to drive and the savings on gas are just incredible!

2001 Civic LX-- Be Careful
I bought this car brand new in 2001 and have had to do nothing but general maintenance. It gets great gas mileage and is relatively inexpensive to maintain. BUT at 113,600 miles the transmission unexpectedly died and had to be replaced at a cost of $3700. I found out that this particular year has had LOTS of trouble with transmissions. I was/am very disappointed that I had to replace a transmission on a car I expected to last forever (based on past experience with Civics). Be careful if you are buying a used 2001 Civic; have your mechanic check the transmission before you purchase.

Honda Civi 2001
I've loved this car since I bought it new. It has 132,00 miles and I have never had to do anything but normal maintenance items. I have been meticulous about those! I did put new front struts on it at $125,000 miles. My mechanic said it wasn't absolutely necessary but it had a small squeak over bumps and I chose to replace the struts. I will drive it until it simply dies, whenever that is. The only thing that I can say slightly negative is the A/C is a little weak, although I've not been seriously bothered and I live in Phoenix. I understand newer models have improved the A/C. I hesitate to buy a new car, don't trust that the quality is as good and see no reason to spend the money.

2001 CIVIC HX
Gas saver, it's run about 32 to 36 MPG. Engine power is good. I bought this for my daughter n my regular commute, because the gas price is so crazy and decided to have small compact car that will save my pocket.
