Nice reliable car

I finally crashed my cr-v with 163,000 miles on the odometer. First of all, the car kept me safe and held up well in the crash so that is a plus. It had never really been in the shop before then except for routine maintainence. So this car is very reliable. We used this car for work so we needed the cargo space a lot, you could fit quite a bit in the back. All of the interior is ok at best, everything has held up well but the seats are pretty stiff, and there are other small things that I don't like about the interior. I am a guy that is 5'10" and have to slide the seat all the way back just to fit somewhat comfortably in the driver seat it still puts me a little too close to the pedals, back seat is fairly small too but not too bad. The windshield wipers don't have an intermittent adjustment which doesn't seem like a big deal but is really annoying if its lightly raining, your choices are painfull slow, fast, and light speed nothing in between. Car has quick handling and gets around pretty well, it can get through the snow nicely too. The only thing that I don't like is that if you start to slide the car wants to go straight, no matter what you do, and that could mean straight into a ditch or curb. The car gets great gas mileage but doesnt have much power. I mean that motor sounds like a mean lil 4 banger but the car doesnt really go anywhere, which is nice when your trying to get on the highway :) The car is fairly easy to work on if you do decide to do any work on it yourself. Most of the little things I didn't like about this car are cancelled out by the good features of the car. It is a nice functional, reliable car, and thats all. I would recommend it, unless you are trying to impress anyone with its looks or power. Pros - good gas mileage - Very reliable (needed front end work and timing belt at 160k) - good cargo space - drives well - safe - functional Cons - windshield wipers - stiff seats - sometimes poor handling - low power - I don't like exterior design

evaulate 03 CRV

I have owned three of these, the 03 is much improved with the 5 speed automatic, amazeing power for a 4 cyl. dose have road noise, front seating a little tight if rear folded, Its all arround great vehicle, never had a bit of trouble with any of them, combined milage of over 200K, live in snow country, it goes right through the deep stuff.

A/C unit

The car has been quite reliable; however, the A/C unit stopped working. The car is a 2003. The compressor went bad. The raod noise is high and the vehical is difficult for seniors or people with arthritis to enter and exit.

Awesome Family Car

I needed to comfortably seat long-legged teenagers and their friends, AND separate bickering kids in the back seat--pull down drink container/kid separator is perfect. The back seats are so comfortable, I frequently wish I had a chauffeur. This car has taken us on many family trips very safely and comfortably, and holds luggage and coolers. Handles well in extreme weather conditions.

Basic Needs From this Vehicle

I bought this cute-ute because of where I live in Canada. Winters are harsh here. The vehicle fare through it pretty well. I forded thru deep snow where my other car would just sit there. I would not have to dig too much, just loosen the snow and slowly maneuver it out, snow tires do help all around. The Realtime AWD is adequete I would not recommend offroad attemps, just keep it moderate, just the trip to the lodge or the country place. It has a fair decent cargo area with the seats folded up and more right to the ceiling. It is roomy and comfort for five of average height and size. The interior is noisy on concrete streets, but super quiet on newly paved asphalt. The 4 speed automatic is slow in down shifting (2003). I would not buy another CRV since no more manual, I bought this vehicle for someone else but now retired from driving. I would recommend for those who want the extra room for cargo when they need it, and for a long trips. Parking is easy if you try it several times, you cannot see out over the tire if reversing, practice and know your distance, careful if first time only using the side mirrors. All this, it is a fun ute to drive.

Commuter's Reliable Vehicle (CRV)

PROS: Roomy interior is reason I bought this car instead of a Subaru Outback or Toyota RAV. (I am 6'3"). Very good head room even with moonroof. Leg room Okay in front, excellent in back. Performance: smoothest, most powerful 4-cylinder engine I've ever driven. Gas mileage between 22-30 MPG - I drive 60mph on highway. Good ergonomics. Cargo Area flexible and good-sized with bqck seats folded down. Room for 4 full-sized adults and reasonable amount of luggage. I do a fair amount of winter driving on icy roads and AWD system is adequate; I have never put chains or snow tires on this vehicle. CONS: High seats difficult for short or arthritic individuals to get into. Road Noise. Wish I had bought 5-speed manual instead of 4-speed automatic. Rear door hinged on side instead of top. I Plan to buy another CRV in 3-4 years if a diesel or hybrid model is available.
