205K Miles and still going strong

In Oct 2004, we purchased a new 2005 Odyssey EX-L with RES and Navi. The first one (first year model) in Desert Rock Metallic to be sold from our dealer. 6.5 years later, we're at 205K miles (~170K in city driving) and it's still running GREAT. Best of all, we've only had $750 in repairs (not maintenance) over that time. This includes: A/C Clutch, Battery Cables, Starter. It also tows our 18' Ski Boat during summer months. In February, we drove it from Denver to Ontario, CA and back. Not a single problem and ran smoothly, even in the 90 MPH range (a few times). I was able to take it with FULL CONFIDENCE that it would continue to be reliable. The one existing problem is the left sliding door won't unlock and therefore, it won't open. This happened around 30K miles ago and I just haven't taken the time to pull the panel off and find out why it's jammed. After having owned 15 Hondas since 1981, I can easily say this has been the most reliable. A remarkable claim considering the lack of problems with any of the previous ones.

Very Practical Vehicle

This is a great vehicle. We love the fact it gets nearly as good of fuel mileage as the car we had previously. All the cupholders in it are very handy. Folding the rear seats down is a breeze and all the room is very useful for us as we travel alot. I have even hauled a box that measured 7.5'x2.5'x2.5' with room to spare.

Love it (except for the MPG)

Absolutely love the van. My kids do too. It is great for trips but sucks gas around town. And they are everywhere!

Awesome Van!

I have driven many different makes of minivans and nothing compares to the Honda Odyssey. They have a very smooth, quiet ride, they're comfortable, very roomy and most importantly very reliable.

By far the most reliable and user-friendly car!

We purchased a pre-owned '05 Odyssey in 2008 when our family grew...I wasn't too keen on the whole mini-van thing, but it took all of two days to fall in love with this baby! Reliability and dependability were top-notch, the worst problem we ever had was the battery died after a few days of the engine starting a bit rough, so I even knew it was coming. Otherwise the engine always starts and runs smooth and quietly, and performs beautifully on the road...maneuverability is just as good as any sedans I've driven. The interior is awesome, I don't think I can ever be happy with a non-mini-van again :) Apart from the seats that fold into the floor (we've transported a bed frame, a treadmill, a dresser, and a computer desk with this nifty little plus), there's a lazy suzan under the floor of the second row, two glove compartments, and tons of places to tuck things away. I was able to store emergency kits, roadside tools, even snacks and water bottles throughout the car without using any of the cupholders. There are at least 10 cupholders, plus spaces in the doors to accommodate 4 more. For the little ones, the sliding doors both feature sun-blocking screens that store neatly inside the doors (at least on the EX model). And the LATCH system made installing a car seat very easy, even for first-timers like us. We also took this on long trips, often 1000+ miles, and had no issues with discomfort. We're both tall and the Odyssey has more leg room than the Sienna does, so this was a big plus for us when we test drove. As for value, we purchased at a dealer so the certified pre-owned price was certainly not as good as we could have gotten from a private seller. But given the lack of repair/maintenance costs and decent gas mileage (generally mid-20s) we know we've come out on top. Happy driving!

Hard to Beat this Minivan

It's my second Honda. I leased both and bought this 2005 at the end of the lease. It really doesn't get any better in VanWorld. We started years ago with a Wolfsburg edition VW that was spacious but wayyy underpowered. Two Chryster/Plymouth minivans were all we needed to move on from those. Too many problems even when they were covered under the warranty. New rack and pinion, new A/C, new transmission and on and on. Honda came out with the easy to move third row seat so we changed and have never looked back. Comfort, power and room. The best at the best price. Can't beat it. We started with a family of four and added a fifth and now we are two and still love it!

Best minivan I've ever owned

I've owned Ford & Chrysler minivans, and considered both prior to buying the pre-owned Odyssey. The Honda Odyssey is far superior to the others I've owned, and those I test drove. It's loaded with features too numerous to mention, and many are not available on the others. Best of all is Honda reliability. It is a very well engineered and manufactured automobile.

2005 Touring w/ 56k

We bought the van from a private owner recently and it's a serious improvement in practical use and space over our prior 02' Acura MDX which we loved. With our 2nd kid on the way and an 85lb. dog who thinks she's human, we needed the extra room. The PAX tires, though good in concept, are a real drag to replace at over 1,000, so we're going to probably get new rims and tires because of the insane cost and low serviceability of them. Other than that, this van takes away the mini-van sacrifice with GREAT acceleration and the touring is a must with so many amenities incl. the back gate auto-lift, fog lights, and premium sound with the RES, NAVI & satellite radio. The comparable Sienna is boring by comparison.

Good People Carrier

This car is great for carrying lots of people. We can fit 8 people in total. The only negative part is the size. It is a little bit bigger than I would like. Otherwise, It's a great car!
