Did everything I ever wanted.

Loved it, it was the first car I owned and it took me everywhere I wanted and treated me well for the decade+ that I owned it.

Best vehicle we have ever owned.

Our 2005 Pilot EX is the 7th Honda we've owned and is our favorite (the 1999 Odyssey LX is second). With 171,500 miles, we have had only 1 non-maintenance repair - a leaking transmission seal at 103,000 miles (it was due for a new timing belt anyway). It is comfortable, cool in the summer (thanks to durable cloth seats) , and readily travels any Colorado winter road with a high-quality, on-demand 4-wheel drive engineering system. I just test-drove a 2017 Pilot EX-L and the 2005 is a far superior vehicle. The 2017 feels fat and overweight, is larger outside while smaller insider, and comes loaded with techno-garbage suitable for people who would rather text and touch computer controls instead of enjoying the experience of driving a beautifully engineered vehicle that will carry 8 people and move just about anything. My youngest daughter is now driving it after her 2007 VW Passat blew a piston. If you can find a well-maintained 2005, but it.

Excellent all around

This has been the perfect car, from taking me to and from work and school every day, to lugging a huge amount of band equipment to the next gig, and even serving as an honorary plow truck (transporting people and equipment) during a snowstorm that dumped 2.5 feet of snow in under 2 days. This car has never let me down and I hope it lasts me for years to come.

Super happy with my first Honda

I've owned it for many years, I bought it used with 32,000 miles, now it has 185,000 and I have never had to fix anything. I take it off roading a lot, I tow four-wheelers with it, it's never left me stranded or even did anything weird. It is the most reliable car I've ever had by far.

2005 Honda Pilot Ex-L

The Honda Pilot has been the most reliable car I've owned by far. I'm glad I found Cars.Com to help me find a new car and sell my old one.

The Car you See on Every Street

Overall very reliable car. Interior design can be more comfortable. Pretty spacious though. Can be the design for google self driving car. should turn into a car for road trips and have enough space for sleeping on the trunk during camp nights :)

Picture of Reliability

We bought our 2005 Honda Pilot EX-L brand new in Dec. 2004. It has easily been the best vehicle I have ever owned. Extremely versatile, reliable, and comfortable. We now have 167k miles on it and still with no problems. We have always used Honda service stations and made sure to use Honda fluids (very important for transmissions). I still enjoy driving it as my daily driver and plan to keep it another 2 years. The new MY16 Pilot looks pretty good, but it's hard to beat this 2005 Pilot!!

GREAT LARGE FAMILY SUV!

We love our 2005 Pilot. 79000 miles and purrs ... NO ISSUES ever! BIG and safe SUV. Make sure you have young kids for the third seat. It won't work for long trips with teens - not enough leg room.

Love this car

We bought our pilot used a month ago. Already it has snowed and proven itself very effective on steep inclines and normal driving. I am 6'1 and found the driver side seating very comfortable with a commanding view of the road. The steering is responsive. You can feel the road as you drive. The console controls feel a little far away from the driver. However the steering wheel stereo and cruise controls are convenient and make up for the distance to the center console buttons. We have found the folding 3rd row most helpful and look forward to trying them out with our friends after the twins arrive.

Its a Honda!!

This is probably the most reliable car I have ever owned. This Honda just keeps on going like new. I service the car regularly, and it just keeps performing. I had only 1 minor problem with it besides routine maintenance, and that was an $100 o2 sensor. It has 194,000 miles and is running strong. No leaks and no problems. Want to see if I can get 300,000 miles, and I expect I can.
