Only had the car for 1 1/2 months...

I love the design and simplicity of the car, do not like cars that seem to have their own mind. I don't like the fact that you can't start it to let it warm up and lock the doors. You have to be in it to lock doors if it is running. Gas mileage is awesome, and it's way better than my Chevy Silverado truck.

Peeling Paint - Hyundai Says, "FU"

Purchased new four years ago for my son. His job required commutes of 75 or more miles/day, so we wanted something good on gas. The car did not disappoint in this area. My son is 6'4", and the Elantra provided exceptional front leg and head room for him - we didn't care much about rear leg room since he wasn't going to be hauling passengers. The car handles well, and has decent acceleration for a small engine. Hyundai's free towing as part of their warranty has come in handy twice. But that's where the good news ends. I had purchased a 2015 Chevy Malibu for my daughter the year before, which cost about the same as the Elantra. Having driven both cars extensively, the Malibu is the clear winner. The difference in the interior "fit and finish" is clearly superior in the Malibu. It's hard to explain, but the Chevy feels more solid and comfortable, compared with the hard, "plasticy" feel of the Elantra. The ride, room, and handling of the Malibu are also much better. Also, be aware that Hyundai's version of a spare tire is a can of leak sealant. If you hit something and crunch your rim, you are stranded (that's one instance where the towing came in handy.) It took over a week to get a new rim, and since he still had to go to work, we had to buy a donut emergency spare just to keep his job. Another issue is how low this car sits. Yeah, I'm in my 60s, but I'm not decrepit yet, but this thing is painful for me to get in and out of. The biggest disappointment is the paint. Actually, the biggest disappointment was Hyundai's response to the problem . There are documented issues with Hyundai's paint, so don't take my word for it. Feel free to use your favorite search engine and see the gruesome story with your own eyes. My son came home one evening, and a huge patch of paint had peeled from the roof starting at the top of the windshield. No, we've never used a pressure washer on it or anything like that. I've owned many cars in the past 45 years, and I've NEVER had one shed paint like this. I wish I could attach a photo. And, as the title of my review implies, the dealer told him it wasn't their problem. So, Hyundai - you won't spring for a couple hundred bucks to fix your crappy paint job. Fine. I won't be buying cars from you or your sister company any more. And any time one of my young colleagues asks for advice on purchasing a vehicle, I'll urge them to stay away from Hyundai. I urge anyone reading this to do the same. Ever hear that old adage, "You get what you pay for"??

Look up engine recalls for Hyunai Elantras before

I owned a 2016 Elantra and the engine went just after warranty (102,000km). Paid out of pocket for new engine. That one went 18 months later. Come to find out faulty engines are a huge issue for Hyundai’s (smaller vehicle engines). Recall is growing each year.

The most reliable car I own now! :)

This car most definitely fits most of my expectations, considering from what I owned before. Honestly I am grateful and have no complaints. As long as it gets me to my destination, then all is well! Thanks!

My family loves this car

Smooth drive and quiet. Kids love the sunroof. Great adjustable seats that are also heated. USB port and keyless start is the best. Plenty of room for my long legged boys. The back seats come down for extra trunk room. Power windows and doors....I'll never go back to manual windows. I absolutely love this car.
