love my santa fe
Was leaning toward a 2008 or 2009 lexus rx 350 but found the 2011 santa fe to be much better equipped for the same price! Even the stereo in the lexus was sub par. The santa fe is also much roomier! I love the handling of my santa fe and everything else, down to the most comfortable steering wheel I've ever handled. The built in nav with backup camera is awesome. I don't know how i ever lived without a backup camera before. I must say, though, it freaks some people out in parking lots behind me sometimes because they think i'm backing up without looking behind me. lol. Was hesitant about getting dark interior with the hot summers we've had in Tn, but the vehicle cools down quickly with the air running and hasn't been a problem.

Sharp Vehicle With Lots of Go
Lengthy research went into this purchase, made three months ago. Safety, cargo space and all wheel drive-ability the key factors. We bought the Limited w/o Nav. The Nav was expensive and frankly, lousy. Our plug-in Garmin is way easier to use and far more helpful - @ $150 vs. $1800 for the Hyundai Nav (With backup cam, mind you). It's a very attractive car, with all the bells and whistles and a 3.5 L 6 speed auto that provides excellent, quiet power. The gas mileage is about 12.6 L per 100km - not great, but consistent or better than others we considered - Lexus RX 350, Ford Explorer, Volvo XC70, Subaru Outback, Honda CR-V. All of these were more expensive than the Santa Fe, which we got for about $32k. We added all season floor liners, Protection Package for exterior and interior, trunk lip protector, winter tires on Hyundai rims, and back up sensors installed in the rear bumper (like most SUVs, seeing out the back is difficult). Good service pre and post sale at out local dealership.

hundai Santa Fe
This is the first SUV/Crossover that I have owned. The car really rides nice and I can't get over all the stuff that comes with the car which would be options on most other vehicles. Very well designed and a pleasure to drive. I think it was a very fair price for what I got. Bought the V6 Limited model. I'm sure I would have paid at least $5K more for a similarly loaded car from a different manufacturer. As far as reliability, only had it for 3 months so time will tell. Highly recommend it.

My great Santa Fe
I have purchased 8 new vehicles in my time and many used ones prior to them and I rate my Santa Fe at the top of the list!!! It looks great, it handles great ( the brake pedal could be a little bit harder, it is a little bit soft on quick stops), the interior is very nice with extra features others do not include and last but BEST, I get BETTER fuel mileage than the window sticker states!!!

Very satisfied with this vehicle
I live in Montana and needed a vehicle to replace my 2002 Outback. We have very demanding requirements but a limited budget. We need a vehicle that will get us to our whitewater rafting locations in the summer and to the ski slopes in the winter with hiking and biking in between. This includes hauling 4-5 adults, gear, various roof racks, pulliing trailers over mountianous roads in all kinds of weather. Room, realiablity, power, good gas mileage, i-pod ready stereo, fun to drive, handling, were all important requirements. I consider myself a very informed car buyer and do very indepth research before buying any vehicle. I enjoy car shopping and research and test drive many vehicles not only for myself but for my friends. I tested 18 SUVs,ranging from the Traverse to the Forester, some 4 or 5 times and ranked them for both objective and subjective attributes. Being a Subaru guy I leaned towards the Outback but the 6 cyl with the options we wanted was out of our price range as was the Toyota Highlander, another of our favorites. The local Hyundi dealer finally got a Santa Fe SE with the 3.5 on the lot and we were able to check it out, after spending a day testing the Highlander, Santa Fe, and OutBack, side by side, we found that that going with the Santa Fe was an easy choice and it scored highest in our rankings in many catagories. I'm am 6'4" and my sons are all over 6' and we found the seating very satisfatory, especially nice are the reclining rear seats, foot room under the front seats, back seat heater outlets on the floor and door pillar, after a long day of skiing. The heater and defrosters are the best I have experienced. The stereo is as good as many of the upgrades we tested on other vehicles. The AWD works great on snowy and icy ski roads and the 4wd lock feature has allowed us to climb out of some very steep and loose river access locations while pulling the raft trailer, this usually requires low range in my pickup. However my favorite feature is the power, many of the roads we drive are steep 2 lanes filled with motorhomes and other slow moving vehicles so passing perfomace is very important to us. By using the manual shift feature and using the RPMs this thing can go from 40 to 80 in the length of a motorhome while loaded down with bikes and camping gear. The only SUVs we tested that can match this are the Rav 4 and Turbo Forester both smaller and less roomy. Mileage is a little less then expected but we are still using ethanol in Missoula so I expect it to improve this summer, still with my lead foot and less efficent fuel we are still getting 22-24. Best of all I was able to get this for invoice minus $2000 in rebates at 2.9% or $8-10K less then our other top choices. Other nice suprises are the ability to put 4 golf bags cosswise in the back and the huge amount of storage under the rear floor. Although it cannot match our Miata for grins this SUV is fun to drive and so far it meets and exceeds our requirments.

So far, very good
I have just less than 3000 miles on my new Santa Fe and am very impressed so far. The ride is stiff with the trailering package and 18" tires but the power is more than you need (V6) and the gas milage is reasonable. I have been doing between 20 and 24 and I think it will do 26 on the highway. A good vehicle and I feel it is a good buy!

MPG disappointing
I am a traveling nurse and drive for a living carrying many supplies with me. My honda accord worked well but needed more room and of course with gas prices going up I did much research on milleage vs. room , etc. After driving the honda crv several times I test drove the hyundai and fell in love with it. It had plenty of outlets to run a laptop, gps, and charge phone all of which are important when working from your car. It had awd to get me through the winter months, as it is important I see patients in all types of weather. It was rated one mpg less than the crv but I thought it was worth it due to the increased room inside and blue tooth features. It is rated combined driving at 22mpg avg. City 20mpg and highway 26mpg. After five fill ups, and I drive about 50/50 city highway, I have gotten 17, 17.6, 20.0, 18.7, and 19.2mpg. Have not come close to touching 22mpg average as advertised which means I should be getting well over that at times. I took one long road trip one day mostly all highway driving and that was when I got 20mpg. I am very disappointing and have since learned that getting less than rated on a hyundai is common. Once summer hits full swing I can only imagine what I will get with the AC on. So far I have been babying it. Honda usually gets more than the advertised sticker says mpg wise. I have always owned honda but thought I would give the Santa Fe a try. Comfort and features great. But unfortunately the mpg overrides all that. As soon as the title comes I will be trading in.

Wow, what a nice surprise
I've been looking for a new SUV for a few months. After considering and test driving the Mazda CX9, Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot I finally decided on the Hyundai Santa Fe Limited w/6 Cyl and Navigation. Why, the most bang for the book. The Santa Fe has more get up and go with better gas mileage then these other cars and plenty of room to throw my 9'6 long board inside. What's nice is everything works great, navigation and blue tooth with no problems, it just works, which is rare when you're dealing with electronics. Also the sound system is fantastic. All and all the best value for the money!!!

Great Vehicle
My job takes me all over the county, 5 days a week, no matter what the weather or road conditions. The Santa Fe handles very nicely, with automatic stability control and AWD. Love the rear wiper/washer and blue tooth hands free phone system with steering wheel controls. The trip monitor even estimates how many miles you have left on the remaining gas. Lots of room, comfortable back seats, easy to get the toddlers in the car seats. I rate it a 4 in value for the money because I my last house cost less than this.
