2015 Hyundai SONATA consumer reviews

We purchased a certified used 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited in June of 2018. At the time of purchase; our vehicle had just shy of 59k miles. 14 months later; our engine is having to be replaced at approximately 66,100 miles. Throughout this mess, we have discovered the epidemic of engine failures that plague vehicles that are equipped with Hyundai’s 2.4L Theta II engine; such as the one in our Sonata. These engines are prone to not just premature & catastrophic engine failure; but also pose a serious safety risk due to being a fire hazard. Our Sonata has been in the service department 3 times over the past month; and we have taken our grievances to Hyundai Corporate. Hyundai Motors USA was quick to try and throw money at us; then offered an insulting lowball offer to buy back the vehicle. Ultimately, they changed their mind as of this morning. Now they refuse to buy back the vehicle; and have left us with a car we don’t trust to be reliable; nor do we feel safe driving it. This review is not to bash the folks who work for Chapman Hyundai; as they have tried to be accommodating. The only fault of theirs is that they sold us this lemon that was produced by Hyundai. This review is more so a warning to consumers to beware of what they’re buying. DO NOT BUY HYUNDAI! Do not put your trust in this brand and do not support the dealerships that sell their dangerous & defective product. These vehicles are prone to additional issues; not just with their engines; but also their transmissions, seatbelts, brake systems, steering systems, etc... If only we had known what we know now... Hyundai’s version of standing by their product and their customers is to make them jump through repeated hoops; shuffling them from one disinterested representative to another. Ultimately, we were told to think of our situation like “a new relationship after getting out of a bad one”.... That we needed “to give it time to learn to trust Hyundai again”.... SHAME ON YOU HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA AND SHAME ON YOU CHAPMAN HYUNDAI SCOTTSDALE! Someone needs to make right by this situation!

This Hyundai is in mint condition. Their detailer went above and beyond for me at my request to take off the current pinstipes. The tail pipe is sparkling chrome, wheels and tires look brand new. In addition, being that the sonata is black and four years old there are very MINOR blemishes. The engine looks clean and it's a a smooth and tight ride. The car is fully loaded and has all the features I was looking for, as I did not want a moonroof. It even came with a security system and bluetooth! Fuel efficient and cost effective. BadaBing, no brainer!

This car is by far the best model from Hyundai from all the generations the 2015 SE it almost has all the features u need. I was going to get a Toyota Camry but this one drives and feels like one great on fuel mileage and very stylish the only problem in this car is the driver seat Hyundai could of done much better on that part! Also the monitor for the FM radio Hyundai could of done much better to display the name of the Artist/song etc. or if it did have a HD radio. Other than that it’s a great car!

Very nice , clean and low miles . drives very nice and handles great . Great miles per gallon too .i love this car to .

This is an awesome car, and I have never had features such as; backup camera, Bluetooth phone, or touch radio! It also runs smoothly, absolutely love it.

I owned this car for a little less than a year and I am proud to say that this car is great fit for anyone who loves saving money! MPG is crazy and with a full tank of 520mi you can fill her up and drive all the way to the beach from arizona on a full tank! I have never had any problems with this vehicle I am just ready to move on to something more my style!

I love what Hyundai packs into a car. Great tech features, custom leather is awesome. Sharp looking car with a turbo charged engine. Panoramic sunroof and chromed out!!!

Lots of room ,dual exhaust, smooth ride on the highway; spacious trunk and modern design ; DR lights look great and gives the impression that the front bumper is wider .. Same engine (2.4) from my wife’s Santa Fe Sport Awd.(easy to maintain)

I’ve owned Volvo Mercedes bmw and this Sonata beats them all in comfort reliability interior design handling what a car I love I look forward to driving it everyday
