Never should have turned in the G37

In 2012 we were excited to lease our first Infiniti the G37. I had admired the car for a few years and the opportunity came up with a great lease deal. We absolutely loved the car and raved about the performance and ride. We were so impressed. The only thing I would change was the interior color. We live in NY were winters can be tough and even with winter mats it was difficult to keep the light tan interior clean. In January 2014 we received a notice we could extend our lease or take advantage of a great lease loyalty opportunity if we leased the Q50. We decided to go w/ the Q50 because of the great deal. During the test drive I did notice the handling was not as good around the corners as the G37 and the ride was not as smooth. I definitely felt more bumps in the road. The sales person told me it was because it was winter and the road was cold. I told him I drove the G37 over to the dealership on the same roads and it did not feel the same. I could not believe he actually said that to me. I may be a women but I am not an idiot. Another comment I made was I didn't like that the seats did not automatically adjust for each based on the key as they did in the G37. The salesman told me we would have to go to the top model to get that but he would not recommend that model. We are over a month in to this lease and wish we would have kept the G37 for 6 more months. The ride is definitely not as good as the G37 and honestly I expect more when buying an infiniti. I wonder if the Chevrolet Malibu would have a smoother been better. I think the electronics impressed my husband but now he even says it is not that great. The features don't start working for several minutes after the car is started. Very poor software and no word this will ever be fixed. Also he has made a few changes to the automatic settings such as removing the alarm for cold weather and it continues to come on. As for all the new software we were supposed to get I am not sure when it will be ready either. I have to say I REALLY miss the seats automatically adjusting. My husband is over 6 foot and I am 5 foot 5 inches. Overall if you are looking at turning in a G37 for the Q50 hold off. Electronic software is there but poor, ride is not smooth and handling is worse. I am not sure I would even recommend getting it when or if they make the changes needed.

So disappointed

I bought my 2014 infinity Q50 three months ago. It is the 7th Infiniti that my Husband and I have owned. Initially I noticed a problem with the radio, and mentioned it on day one. However, I thought that I was doing something wrong, as this car is very technologically advanced. I managed to get the radio stabilized, but as soon as I tried using the traffic app the entire audio system stopped working, also the phone connection. I took it back to Infiniti, and there is nothing they can do until a solution to the software problem is resolved. I am left driving a brand new infinti with no radio, and none of the other apps that come in the central system. Infiniti has not been able to tell me if and when the problem will be fixed. I am not enjoying my new car!

Fixing the Bugs

I am 6 weeks into my new Q50 Hybrid Sport. On a positive note, good performance, great comfort creatures, fabulous in the snow/ice. So all in all my first 3 weeks were quite positive. Sadly, I'm also beginning the 3rd week of my loaner car while Inifinity tries to find a battery to replace the one that doesn't work. In week 3 I needed two jump starts and took the car in for service. After being promised the car by the next day, and the next day, and as soon as the delivery of parts comes in, I'm now hoping for a battery to be found and delivered sometime next week. Calls to the sales mgr and service mgr are not returned - only the service rep returns calls and he admits he is unfamiliar with the Q50. I don't know if I have a lemon, or just an early model of a car that needs to get things worked out. This is my 5th Infinity, and the first time I'm not a happy Infinity owner.

first impressions

Didn't go looking for an Infiniti but was impressed with the overall package. Very nice highway ride with plenty of power, and confortable handling. The apps seam slow to start up but work fine once awake. The lights are great.

very disapointed

I've already had the car in three times for the navigation issues - road noise disappointing, no cooled seats - overpriced

Do you like luxury?

This car is by far the best I've ever owned. I love how although it's a sedan, it handles like a sports car. I love all the electronics and gadgets the car offers. Everything is touch screen. You can set profiles for different users of the car and set the car the way you like it. Ex: how cold you want the a/c and how strong. The trunk is a decent size and comes with a first aid kit. I love the ease of opening and locking the doors without keys - single touches. The LED lighting makes everything clear and bright at night. The sound system is decent. Definitely recommend the car.

2014 Infiniti Q50S

Test drove this car against, Toyota Avalon, Hyundai Genesis, Lexus IS350, BMW 135IS, Audi A4, Mercedes C350, Volvo S60R, the InfinitI simply checked off more of what we where looking for in a luxury sport sedan. Truly believe it is the best all around in its class & defiantly best normally aspirated in class.

Mixed bag

This car could have been a contender but for two issues. The run flat tires just do not perform as well as the regular tires do. They are expensive to replace and probably will not last as long as regular tires. You can get a spare tire but you can't avoid the run flat tires. The other problem is the electronic steering. There is no direct connection between the steering wheel and the tires while you drive. It's all done with electric motors and electronics and that is exactly how it feels. Actually how is feels is artificial and you just can't tell what is going on where the rubber meets the road. There are still some glitches in the user interface that seem to freeze it up occasionally but this is a brand new model so it is no surprise. I am sure there will be a software update to fix it. What is surprising is how expensive this car can be. The base price is low but it does not even include leather as it did in the past. If you want nav, memory seats, nice wheels and a better stereo along with leather you are closing in on $50K. The price seems to have gone up 10% over the G37 and even with its new name it is clear that this is just an updated G37. When I shopped there didn't seem to be any promotions for buying or leasing which I suppose is normal for a new model. However, I could get a Mercedes C300 for a substantially lower monthly lease cost. The Mercedes is smaller but it drives much better than the Q50. This car just is not that great and certainly not worth that kind of money. If you want a sports sedan, look elsewhere. This is not a worthy successor to the G37.

Best Infiniti to date

Infiniti has done it again in creating another great car. The Q50 Sport AWD that I purchased is a great car to drive and is a big improvement over the G model, which I also loved, but the Q50 really kicks it up several notches in ride, handling, looks, and tech features. The dual touchscreen is smartly designed and very user friendly. It is like having 2 Ipads in your car, they are that easy to use. The standard features of the car are numerous and you can set up your favorite features to link to your key fob so that your car knows it is you behind the wheel and auto syncs your favorite set up for climate, driving mode, audio, etc. The 14 speaker Bose audio system sounds fantastic, a big improvement over the previous G model by Infiniti. The navigation system is a nice feature although the voice recognition system can sometimes be a bit frustrating as you need to always speak clearly toward the microphone. I find it worse for when you want the recogition to find a song or artist on your ipod. So some improvement is needed in that area but at least the touchscreen system is easy to use and find your songs and artists and navigation settings. This car is FAST! It is fun to drive and I look forward to my daily commute to work. Gas mileage can be ok if you use the ECO mode, I am averaging about 22 mpg (I got about 26 hwy and 19 city) but honestly, this car is so fast and fun you just wanna gun it, so I average about 19/20 mpg overall with my daily work commute when I keep it in sport driving mode to take full advantage of the 0 to 60 in about 5.2 seconds. Inside styling is top notch with stitched leather seating, soft surfaces, a great looking center display set up, and easy to read gauges and screens. Seats are extremely comfortable and I love in my sport model that there are thigh extensions on the front seats which makes a world of difference for overall comfort in any car. This is such a great car in looks and styling and all the tech features offered that I highly recommend it if you are looking in the sport sedan market.
