The essence of Jeep, but nicer
We bought this 2016 Limited - 75th Anniv edition with 80,000 miles but all of them were highway driving and the price was reduced accordingly, making it possible to get a much nicer vehicle than the older Grand Cherokees we had been looking at. We sought out the 5.7L Hemi V8, as the V6 didn't really make us happy. We found that the V6 had adequate acceleration, but that was the best I could say. It had to work really hard to get up to speed quickly, and was very noisy under full throttle. The V8 gets there faster, has great passing power, and for a rating of 3 MPG difference, we immediately dismissed the V6 and only looked at V8 models. We're delighted we did that. This is a very comfortable road vehicle, and we especially like the stable, low vibration ride and road feel due to the Mercedes-designed chassis. The controls and large touch screen work nicely, and the physical knobs on the controls are a nice addition. USB ports are thoughtfully placed on the front console and the end of the center console. The paddle shifters on the steering wheel are extremely easy to use, and their logic of operation is excellent. I actually like their setup and operation better than the functions on my wife's 2009 BMW 3-series! Three things remind us this isn't really a sporty or driver's car, it's a utility vehicle: first, the seats are pretty flat and it's easy to slide around rather than feeling well located in the seat. 250-pound guys will like it, but I miss the seats in my BMW 3-series. Second, the gas pedal is a couple of inches closer to the driver than the other pedals, resulting in a slightly awkward "pulled back" angle for the driver's right leg. This becomes noticeable on longer drives, and there should be a "dead pedal" for the left foot so the driver can adjust the driving position to match. Third, the electrically boosted power steering conveys practically no road feel at all, and it's over-boosted and too easy to turn. Putting the Jeep into Sport Mode increases steering effort slightly, and that's what the normal steering feel should be like. I use Sport Mode in town because it provides faster throttle response and better engine braking, but on the road it would penalize gas mileage. I know that most drivers won't be bothered by these things, and the Jeep is so well made and solid that the overall comfort and driving experience is truly enjoyable. We've had no maintenance or repair issues yet, but all cars require periodic work, and we're not worried about it. The critical factors in a vehicle like this are the engine and drivetrain, and the Jeep's engine, transmission and drive axles are among the most robust in the world. We're looking forward to many years of Jeeping, as our last Grand Cherokee ran like a watch at 188,000 miles when we sold it.

Comfortable road trip vehicle
The Grand Cherokee Summit with the 5.7L Hemi is probably the best road trip car I’ve owned. With the adaptive cruise control it practically drives itself. More than enough power, plenty of room and comfort makes for arriving at your destination feeling refreshed. With Jeeps 4wd, you also have the confidence that whatever the weather or road conditions you’ll make it. Great SUV!!!

Best SUV I've owned
With the Hemi performance is amazing. Fuel economy is more than I expected especially on the highway. Driving is comfortable and exciting. Drive from Ohio to California the first week. From snow to sunshine the trip was better than I could imagine. Extremely comfortable and handled everything I put it through. Can't wait for the next road trip.

I had 4 of these over eight years
They are great cars. I drive ever 700 miles a week for work and the cards have been flawless. My only complaint is the gas mileage could be better. They have plenty of horsepower, tow very well, are excellent in the snow and are great all-around SUVs.

Excellent all-purpose vehicle
Comfort - interior and on the road, along with reliability and room for family and gear. Features like nav, heated/cooled seats and all the elctronics make a nice trip anywhere. Hemi motor gives power and 4wd for bad roads....or playing off road under any conditions.

So far so good.
I bought my 2016 Certfied pre owned Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited around 7 months ago with around 12k miles. Only issue I have had so far is the overhead interior roof liner has been vibrating when I go over bumps. I took it into Jeep and it?s covered under the warranty so it should be taken care of. I don?t drive it hard, I change my oil on time so I expect this GC to last. I?ve put 9k miles on it and it drives like the day I brought it home. Interior is spacious, comfortable, and quality. It has enough power, could use a tad more but its enough to get you to merge onto a highway without worry. Gas mileage is ok, I knew going in I wasn?t buying a gas saver but it?s not an absolute killer. Performance in snow is top notch.

Best car ever!!!
I love this car. I fell in love with the Grand Cherokee about 10 years ago. I drove an older one for a few years and then a 2001 for about 8 years. My 2016 takes the cake! I bought the Limited Model. All leather, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, satellite radio, the works. Over this past weekend we took a family trip to Indianapolis and my two teenage boys had plenty of room in the backseat. We had plenty of room in the cargo area as well.
