I keep cars for between 250k to 300k with no major issues
I keep cars for between 250k to 300k with no major issues besides normal wear and tear items. I blew an engine at 92 k, while doing 35 mph. Blew an transmission at 180 k and the new engine was going out at 192 k. I had more recalls on this car than I did with my 3 previous vehicles combined. There is a reason kia has a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty.

Beware Kia non support
Nice car, no electronics because KIA does not support 10 yrs or older Kia vehicles. So, all the electronics are obsolete. AVOID older Kia cars unless you do not care about safety or security. Theft / car find etc.

Disappointing Vehicle.
I have a 2014 Kia Soul. It WAS a good car until 2020. The engine light came on. Issue is Computer. The car will run fine for a few months. All is well. The car then doesn't acellerate. I keep having the same issue. Computer, not properly reading . It's getting to the point where I will trade this hunk of junk in. I am very disappointed in this vehicle. I had a PT Cruiser that out performed this car. I would not recommend this vehicle.

Big inside small outside...fun all over.
Before purchase, I did extensive research on this vehicle bc it was it was as close to a Mini Countryman in design as I could find. I am completely satisfied & never regretted after many miles & years. I am forever amazed at how well it is designed for comfort & ease of repairs. It contains more standard options than most and more than some expensive top of the line brands. After 9 years behind the wheel of this 2014 plus, I can only desire two faults that I'd improve, and that's the sides of the hood get dented very easily & the steering "feel" is very dead and unresponsive

Not a good car nor an honest company
I have had issues with the Kia Soul 2014 since I initially purchased it in 2020. The engine light was on before I left the dealership (Brick City Motors, Newark, NJ). I was told the car needed oil. I had an oil change and rode the car off the lot. The engine light came back on 2 weeks later. I was told by the dealership that the car needs the oil replaced every week because it consumes a lot of oil. I had another oil change done and again the light stayed off for about 2-3 weeks and then returned. I made an appointment with the dealership to have the car checked out due to the engine light. I was told to call back because they didn't have any appointments available. I was also told that my warranty was with the dealership's mechanic so if I went elsewhere I would have to pay. I was already making the car payments and paying car insurance on top of my other bills-so I waited. I eventually had the car looked at again and they did something with the sensors in the car and they claimed they had corrected the problem. The engine light would randomly appear and disappear and I was told by the dealership that it was just a fuse issue. I continued to use the car to go to work and run errands. However, the car never sounded good (it wasn't a loud sound, but definitely something was not right). By the fall of 2020 I was still having issues with the car and the oil light and engine. I tried to make an appointment with the dealership because my warranty was still good. Again, I would get the run around about them not having any appointments available. I also began to receive letters from Kia about recalls on the vehicle. I took the car in for 2 recalls thinking the issues would be taken care of. Of course that was not the case. One of the recalls stated that the engine could catch fire and that was due to a manufacturing or design defect - in which there would be engine noise, illumination of Engine Oil Pressure Warning. I was told that there is an extended warranty coverage for the engine sub-assembly system. In Dec. 2020, I was no longer able to drive the car. The engine began making noises and the car smelled funny. Driving the car it would not accelerate or it would slowly drive and then lurch forward and shake. I have taken it to the Kia Dealership and incurred fees for just a diagnostics - $434.00 I also took it to another mechanic who stated I needed to throw that junk out- it would cost thousands of dollars and I just need a new engine/transmission and I was sold a lemon! The car is fully paid off and sitting in my driveway and I am unable to drive it. I purchased the vehicle with 101257 miles and it now has 118000 miles. Additionally, Covid-19 hit and I was unable to contact Kia Motors or the dealership because everything was shut down, no one answered their phones, or when I left messages on voice mail no one returned my calls and so- my warranty expired. I was told there was nothing that could be done since the warranty had expired even though we all were in lock-down! Worst experience ever with a vehicle!

NTSB Says Kia Made Defective Engines
My car's engine through a piston rod, cracked the engine block, spewed oil on everything and burned up on the side of the road. It was impeccably maintained, yet the engine catastrophically failed. The defect that caused the failure was known to Kia, but they did nothing. Now at 118,000 miles, I have a totaled car from a known defect and Kia is dragging their feet with a resolution. Before buying a Soul, checkout the class action lawsuits against Kia for exploding engines and fire damaged cars.

Side mirrors Are too large.
Only issue is the mirrors are so large that a short person such as myself it is difficult to see other cars when I'm turning. There's no way to make the seat higher. So I have to sit on pillows which is not that comfortable. I have found this extremely dangerous.

Repairs on the car
My oil pump stopped working and the won't warranty it. They tried saying that they sent me letters but every letter they sent I bring my car in. So on top of everything they also lie about things. Over all I love my soul but they just don't keep their word on fixing things.

Don't waste your time
I love the look and the comfort of this car, but the mechanical issues are just too much to mess with. There have been too many recalls on this vehicle and even when mine was recalled, they refused to fix it. My engine is bad, the catalytic converter is bad, and to fix it out of pocket would be more than the car is work. Keep looking for something more reliable.

Ranks #2 in my list
The deal was outstanding for this car and I am still finding more features with every drive. I have always purchased base model cars not realizing what I was missing.
