Former Disco II owner loves LR2
We recently traded our 2000 Disco II in for the 08 LR2. My wife didn't like the size of the LR3 and she's the primary driver. So far, so good. The cargo area is smaller than we were used to. You have to fold down part of the back seat to get your golf clubs in. The driver sits lower, but the overall driver ergonomics are better. On the interstate, the ride quality is very smooth-more car-like. The LR2's chassis is based on the Volvo S80. We are anxious to see how the vehicle performs in the snow. Based on the videos I've seen, this should be a problem. We hope this LR does not suffer from frequent oil leaks like our previous model. Then again, you buy a Land Rover because of style/function, not reliability.

Have you driven a Land Rover Lately ?
I contemplated the purchase of this vehicle for over 3 weeks. My concerns were Land rover reliability and user satisfaction. I am a research type person and after reading all reviews, along with learning that this car was built in the award winning Halewood facility in Liverpool, decided to purchase one. Additionally, I normally drive Lexus and Audi, and have come acustomed to a certain level of quality. The LR2 is absolutely awesome in many ways. While it might not be as fast as the RDX or BMW, it offers a more sophisticated driving experience, which is sort of like a combination of a BMW 3 series with Lexus quiteness and refinement. The car comes nearly loading with every option and driving it is fun. For those of you who are thinking about this car, don't wait, go drive the rest first than come back to the LR2 and you won't be dissapointed. It's probably the best quality Land rover product to date.

Great Vehicle
"Purchased this vehicle in November 2007 and am thrilled with it so far. Great styling, handles great on the highway, city and in snow/ice. Superb fit and finish inside and out without being pretentious. The front and side profile of this vehicle is in line with traditional Land Rover - the back side has a more mainstream Ford kind of influence - this is the only styling disappointment. It is not a fast vehicle but it is far from underpowered. I drive a coupe in the summer and tend to push the limits but can honestly say this vehicle is a joy to drive at the posted limits knowing there is ample power if needed. Fuel consumption is much poorer than I expected. I spend alot of time in the vehicle - roughly 5,000km a month and the bulk of it would be highway. So far average consumption is 13.8L/100km. The lighting package is amazing - with the evening driving and especially if you are rural it lights up the road like no other. The upgrade sound system is A+ for factory installed. It is tempermental though - 1 out of every 10 times i start the vehicle the radio/cd will not power on so I have to shut the vehicle down and start it again. I cannot comment on the mp3 compatability. Bluetooth option - apparently a compatability issue with some blackberry versions and I have not had the patch loaded so I cannot comment on that. The dealership convinced me that the all season tires were sufficient and did not need separate winter tires - so far, i disagree. Judge for youself given your specific driving habbits but if you do spend a reasonable time driving where there is a good amount of snow, consider a winter set. The drivetrain is excellent - it is a front wheel bias all wheel drive (i think i got that right). Handles as well as any other i have driven. It is only hampered by the tires in more extreme conditions. The key and push button start is goofy and initally annoying - but you get used to it quickly. The multi level seat heaters are the best (my better half loves them) and the windshield defrost makes hyper fast work of ice. Little compartments or storage up front is poor but not unbearable Navigation system for me is required and would rate it just above average for functionality - tough in the daytime with glare on the screen. Storage space in the back is just enough - for this size vehicle."

Great For the Adventures type
I have a Tambora Flame Metallic LR2. And I really like it. For the stuff, its got two sunroofs, navigation, a really good sound system, and a very interesting air suspension that I'll talk about later. I also own and Acura RDX, another great small SUV. I live in Colorado, and go trailing and do lots of outdoor stuff. Owning both these SUV's is a great way to compare them. I LOVE my Landie, but it is in no way a sports SUV. It is sluggish, and does not handle all that well. My Acura is nimble, quick, and really fun on road, and not so bad, but not great on the off road trails. But the LR2 is. With it's Terrain Response air suspension, it can do anything offroad. Dirt? Piece of cake. Sand? No problem. Mountains? Effortless. It is a fantastic machine. The fuel economy could be better. I get 17-18 in the city, and 20-23 on the highway. My Acura gets about 18 city, and 22 highway. Land Rover would have benefited a lot from taking a leaf from Jaguar's book and using an all aluminum body to reduce weight. This would have made it quicker, more nimble, and improved the fuel economy. The Acura RDX is a on road performance SUV. The LR2 is a little more relaxed, and a beast off road. After also test driving a BMW X3 recently, just out of curiosity, I concluded that an X3 is a pathetic excuse for a real BMW. Overall, the LR2 is the SUV for the active, adventurous type.

I love this car
I have been driving full size pick ups... I bought the new LR2 about 8 weeks ago and I love this car. The only drawback is the greatly reduced space over my prior vehicle, but that is no surprise. I have identified only two small issues. 1. the lack of covered storage in the car, and 2. A set of golf clubs barley fits lengthwise in the back... Another inch would have made a big difference. The Nav system (which includes the premium sound system) is easy to use... The car is comfortable. I am getting a little over 22 MPH on the highway and, just under 19 around town. The main attraction for me on this car was the Land Rover warranty. All normal maintenance covered for the first 50,000 miles. That?s great and even better is the loaner vehicle while the car is in the shop. That does it for me... I feel the car is very well equipped... I'm new to Land Rover , but am sold on this one...

No Regrets!
We purchased this car in July. We just returned from a two week road trip from NYC to Maine and Canada. We were completely satisfied with the cars ride and handling. The Nav. and stereo systems are exceptional. People often confuse it for the $70,000 plus Range Rover Sport, if that sort of thing impresses you. For the money I think it is the best value small SUV.

Mixed Feelings
This is my first Land Rover and I am not completly sold. I love the handling and braking performance. I also like the feeling of it being an SUV but not being big and bulky like an SUV. The sound quality of the regular radio is unacceptable to myself and my dealer agrees. I also do not like the lack of cargo area in the back and very little closed storage in the drivers area. I have owned 3 Acuras prior to this and am regretting that I did not get the 08 MDX instead.

This car might be my all time favorite!
I purchased the LR 2 six weeks ago and my high expectations have been exceeded in every area. Prior to purchasing the Land Rover ,I test drove most competing models including th BMW X3 and the models from Lexus And Acura.I have owned BMW and Mercedes models for many years and currently also own a Subaru Legacy. If I drive the LR2 carefully(maximizing fuel economy) I can attain fuel economy in the 28-30 MPG range . I am averaging 23 MPG in mixed driving. The car has powerful brakes and precise handling. It is a delight to drive as it is exceptionally agile and very comfortable. It is very thoughtfully designed which makes it a pleasure to use on a daily basis.

Land Rover has a winner this time.
I have 2003 Range Rover and have driven all models since when mine is in for routine service. I was asked to drive the prototype LR2 and report to Land Rover problems and to be surveyed about the car. I have found it exceptional and plan to purchase one when available.
