GREAT TRUCK
Had my 91 b2200 for bout 10 yrs. Ive done some work on it, then it died. My fault, I was trying to fix the wrong thing. So I just bought a 93 engine for it, cost 1500. My guy is doing the fine tuning now. Have it back next week hopefully. It has a lot more power now. I also did the exhaust. Great truck for jamming my tunes and cruising. Im happy.
Ole Pepe... runs like a top
purchased this about 2 months ago now and have to say I am very pleased. Was looking for a beater to drive around daily and in the winter to keep miles off the Shelby I'd purchased the year before. Requirements were simple: 5 speed, 2wd, inline 4cyl and under $2k. With this there were plenty to choose from but this one def stood out. After 28 years of abuse this thing still had a great body, drove like a top and was everything I asked for. Engine and performance: - Normally I'd say this thing is severely underpowered and has very sloppy/soft handling but due to the era this thing was built in it runs as close to new as any toyota or nissan truck for a fraction of the cost. The inline 4cyl is easy to work on and maintain and with it being carb'd (its a 1990 and they dont have that choice. same body style though) that makes most of the computers go away that give these things trouble. with a little oil every couple hundred miles and the occasional spark plugs every 1000 miles or so this thing refuses to quit. Power is... adequate lol. its SLOW.... but that being said its averaged over 24MPG's since being bought and has a truck bed and can pull a 4x8 trailer... all I need. Interior: - interior is very well thought out and has super durable materials that have lasted the life of the truck. Minimal cracking, squeaking or missing items. This thing was designed to stay together for YEARS. Only markdown I have is the cheesy 4in speakers everywhere thatreally suck but it puts music through them over the 3k RPM's doing 60 so I can't complain much. Road noise is relatively bad but again for a vehicle at 1400 bucks you can't really complain Maintenance: -again maintenance on this thing is really easy... feed it gas, keep oil in it and make sure you get a spark and it'll go anywhere you want everytime you turn the key. exterior Styling - for a 90's bodied vehicle it's a pretty standard shape.... nothing spectacular. The great thing about a beater is anything makes it look better so rattle canned a stripe on with stickers everywhere and its a beaters dream. Reliability - This truck had 160k on it when purchased. So far i've thrown another 10k at it without as much as a studder and it shows no intention of letting up. When purchased gave it a tune up that ran about 150 for everything and breathed some of the lost HP back into it
Most reliable car I've owned.
My third Mazda truck. I use it to haul pro sound gear. It will probably last a long time. Change the oil occasionally and it will last even longer.
It aint gonna get you there fast
But it will get you there and back.. I have owned 10 Mazda trucks, and they keep going & going.. My first truck has almost 600,000 miles on the original head & Block.. I'll always own a classic Mazda.
Excellent milage
Overall, I loved this truck. My biggest factors for the rating I gave were the milage and reliability. I actually got about 30-32 mpg on long highway trips. Never had a significant repair issue with it. It was 2wd.
Most reliable
Easy to work on, reliable, good gas milage.I will hate to loose it. drove coast to coast 4x just keeps going.
