Best Miata

After owning 3 Miata's I had the opportunity to test drive and buy a 2004 MSM Mazdaspeed Miata ...IMO this is the "perfect" Miata , the power to weight ratio is just right. Thank you Mazda ....zoom zoom for live ..

Absolute Fun on Four Wheels. Handles and Goes!

A Miata the way it should be. Tight, handling suspension with enough power. Great collector car now, since most have either been wrecked, modified or thrashed.

Great Fun for the Money

This car is a blast to drive! Miatas already handle very well but the Mazdaspeed version ups the ante BIG TIME! The turbo kicks in around 3500 RPM and gives a nice pull to redline. Short throw 6-speed trans is fun but just a little tricky grabbing 5th or 6th in a hurry. The best part is how amazingly quick & predictable the steering is! This car a twisty road carver with few rivals. We've gotten 30 MPG on the highway to boot. Also a very comfortable interior for the small size. If you're patient & can travel to buy one deals DO occasionally come up on these cars. Act quick when they do--you won't regret it!

Great handling

The car handles like a dream. You can go around most corners as fast as you dare. It is geared low. Using high octane gasoline and getting only 27 to 29 miles to the gallon. But it is quick from the start. Bumpy roads make a rough ride. Cruise control is an option not included on most models. Between the last two, this is not a long trip car. I have only had the car for a few months, I have had no problems with the car. I had a 1992 which is still running. Miatas are very reliable.

Blast

Purchased the car new in spring of 2005. 78,000 miles to date. No problems! a real blast to drive. Handles like a dream. Quick with the accelerator. A little brutal on the highway. I wish it had cruise. Can't think of anything else I'd rather drive. Daily driver.

Zippy fun

It's not the fastest car on the road, but it handles like it's on rails and it's got plenty of zip to merge onto the interstate or pass on a 2-lane, and I get lots of compliments from middle-aged ladies. Upsides: Handling, looks, turbo, 6-speed. Downsides: Mysterious check-engine light, wish it revved a little higher, Bose stereo is resistant to all upgrades, uses more gas (premium!) than a car this small should.

Too much fun for mere mortals

The regular Miata is a wonderful car, but if you really want to have fun, get the Mazdaspeed. It handles like few others, gets pretty good gas mileage, and has been absolutely bullet-proof on reliability. I've done a few simple modifications (changed exhaust and intake system) and I get 200hp at the rear wheels. You do the math- the car's only 2500 lbs. The best part is the "stealth" factor- everyone says "oh, the cute little Miata" until they are looking at its taillights!
