"A tortoise" slow but it got you there.
I had a 1975 Blue 240-D same set up, stick 4-speed, no power windows, manual sun-roof but it did have A/C. Very reliable, 30-35 mpg. This was my first German car. Slow in acceleration but very reliable. I was amazed at how it handled on turns and stopping ability. Tune-ups were cheap. At highway speed the acceleration was fair but not close to the cars of today. Many of my friends asked why didn't you buy a Caddy? I laughed, at the time American cars were pitiful in their reliability. And they could only go fast if you went straight down the road. As Bogie said, "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship" Since then I have owned 1 Benz, 4 Bimmers and 5 Audis, yes I was hooked on German cars.
