The Cadillac Cimarron of Mercedes-Benz

This is the Nissan you buy when you can’t afford the Mercedes. If this car had a Hyundai or Nissan Altima badge on it I wouldn’t care, I’d just ignore it. But now every time I’m in a Mercedes dealership there’s this abomination. I’ve bought a LOT of Mercedes over the years and am always to happy to see new models. I recall when this misanthrope came out in 2014 I was curious. I was getting ready to drop $60K on a new E350 for my wife and was intrigued by the cost. My dealer who I always buy from and have known from years, just looked at me and said;”Don’t do it. You won’t like it.” He also said if I wanted to test drive it he’d call someone to handle that. I really like and respect him and have known him for years. So I trusted him but was still curious. He pulled the new E350 around and my wife asked me to buy it 5 minutes later, which I did. Three years later her lease was up and we’d traded for a new E350 for her from our usual salesman. Then when I took it in for service the service manager asked me what kind of loaner I wanted and I said let me try the CLA250. As it was a Friday that would give us all weekend with the little CLA. First impressions, I’m a smaller guy but the interior felt cramped and frankly cheap. I also noticed that it had remarkably poor visibility. It was also louder inside than the other Mercedes we’d owned. Whatever I thought, it feels sporty. Maybe that’s it,it’s just sporty. It was pretty good darting in and out if traffic in town. But it was truly hampered even in that by its poor visibility. This made me feel a bit uncomfortable and uncertain. The controls looked really cheap too. Anyway we live in the mountains and I was looking forward to getting the CLA on those twisty roads. It was “ok” drive conf home that evening. It wasn’t until the next day that I’d loaded up the family with the plan of driving up to San Fransicko to the Aquarium. So now the car now held two small adults and a child. A light load typical of what this car would carry on a daily basis. That’s when the terror started. Trying to pass a car on a slight upgrade was very difficult. The car basically stopped any meaningful acceleration at 70mph. It felt like someone just cut off the gas. It felt extremely underpowered and dangerous. I tested it a bit more and my experience was that the CLA is nearly useless, and borderline dangerous. If you’ve ever owned a different Mercedes you will detest this car. In short it’s: loud, underpowered, cheap looking and lacking in visibility. It’s the Cadillac Cimarron of the modern era. The CLA isn’t as mendacious as the cash grab sellout the way the old BMW 318ti was...but it shouldn’t have a Mercedes badge on it. You can get a better car for less money buying a C300 than this little clown 🤡 car.

One of the cheaper entry Mercedes but they left no

The Cla 250 is cheaper than its older brothers like the S class but they left nothing out. The vehicle is a coupe style with 4 doors and a great sounding and performing turbocharged engine. This is great for me as i am a younger driver.

Bam! Big Things come in small packages!

I have a 2015 CLA in September 2018! It had around 27K miles. It’s my first MB. I have the very basics on this model. No bells and whistles, but I’m not a “gadget” type guy, so it works for me. What I did was added a few interior accessories such as red vent rings, red media control knob and red door locks. All courtesy of Amazon. I added new floor mats (aftermarket, so it doesn’t have MB on it, but it still looks good) and my family didn’t even realize the additions I made since they were soooo subtle and didn’t look cheap, gaudy or out if place. It rides choppy, but press your foot on the pedal and welcome to “funsville.” It’s great on gas. The exterior is sleek and definitely an eye turner especially after I take it thru the car wash and shine the tires! I’m 5’9, 216, and the headroom is perfect, however the curved door entry makes it a little challenging to enter the driver’s side front. I’m 55-years old and not having a mid-life crisis either! The average MB driver is mid 50’s anyway. This car is for young or old! Lastly, even though it’s a 2015, it still holds it own with the 16,17,18 and 19! Especially, since like I said, I don’t need all the bells and whistles!

Most affordable luxury car I've owned.

Luxury car, affordable, AWD, sharp looking, gas efficient, spacious for a luxury car. Very fun to drive. Makes your commute much more enjoyable. Only critique is the navigation.

Best car I have owned for the money,

Only down side is that you hear every little inperfection on the road. Other than that its the best vehicle i have owned for the money in that its both economical and has excellent performance.

Not worth the price

The car gears changes frequently which causes a not so smooth ride even just regular street driving. Very tight and compact and the warranties that it comes with is Bogus. It?s always something wrong with the car and sits very low to the ground. A nice flashy car for the weekends only but not for everyday use.
