Reliable, economical tow rig for smaller trailers

I have a 2016 GLE 300dmi purchased used in 2021. It has been quite reliable - no failures in the two or so years I have owned it. It’s pretty comfortable and does well on long trips from northern to Southern California. Good technological features. Sometimes I tow a 3,000 lb camping trailer with it. The diesel engine handles it well. Fuel economy is excellent - on par with gas-electric hybrids of a similar size. I can’t imagine letting go of it.

GLE300D4 * 2016 year.

I have too many problems with my car, it breaks all the time (air conditioning, transmission, a sunroof leaks. At the moment, the car is under repair again. I think this is the last Mercedes in my life. Disappointed

Extremely practical comfortable car

I have put about 5000 miles on this car in a mix of city commuting and highway driving. I was coming out out of a BMW 3 series and was not excited about going into a SUV. So far I have really enjoyed this car. It is very comfortable and luxurious: excellent seats, good sound system, Apple Play, tons of high tech safety features etc. . it is smooth and predictable to drive. The car has a ton of room and has a very quiet and smooth ride. Don’t let the diesel fool you. It never feels under powered. Despite being big and heavy I got as much as 33 mpg cruising at 75- 80 mph. The electronics are good and less confusing than our 2019 E sedan. It is a truck, not a sports car. I certainly can’t compare it to my BMW 3 series in handling and responsiveness, but it is a more pleasant and comfortable ride. The GLE is extremely practical for my needs. From what I understand, as long as you do the scheduled services, they are bulletproof with an engine that can go forever.

Excellent ride

I had previously owned a 2013 GLK diesel which was great vehicle. The GLE is also a great SUV which offers a bit more room than the GLK. Unfortunately diesel SUVs are disappearing from the market and becoming difficult to find. I really like the responsiveness and fuel mileage offered by the MB diesels. It will be a shame when they are all gone.
