Ole Reliable

Was gifted this vehicle from a friend returning to the military in 2009 and the only repairs were the belts (1), fuel tank (1), front inner tire rods (1), alternator (1) and of course the basic wear and tear functionalities. The truck sat for almost a whole year and cranked right up with a battery change. It originally came from Arkansas to Texas to Maryland and now New York with over 211K miles on it; even used on off-road camping trips upstate NY, NJ and still running to this day. No problems getting stuck in snow. Just a well made sturdy truck!

220,000 miles and still going

Can't seem to break this SUV so I can justify buying another. Other then the nickle and dime stuff that breaks, e.g. knobs, switches, plastic, buttons, etc, the mechanical is bullet proof. All I've ever done is follow the service recommendations. The only major glitch was the radiator started to leak, which was replaced with a new one. I understand just the motor and transmission are now worth more then the entire vehicle.

Longest lasting car i've owned

This car met all my need and still meets all my needs currently. It is a great car to have and I will last a very long time if proper care and love go into.

Outstanding

I got this in 2011 with about 168k miles on it. Today it has 198k miles on it and has been driving across the USA three times with zero issues. Things that have been replaced other than usual things are front and rear pinion seals, front driveshaft, and front inner and outer tie rods. The only bad thing i'd say is the door lock acuators were very finicky to get working again when they did go wrong. Other than this it's been mechanically superb. Even the fuel economy is still good at high mileage. Finally, i've done quite a lot of off road driving with this. Anywhere from mild to pretty severe for what it is. The offroad capability is far better than one would expect. There's nothing i can really complain about with it.

nice value

I found the Mercury Mountaineer at Cars.com. Had only 78k original miles for a 1997! Runs great, well-maintained, out the door from the dealer for just under $4100! Drove 3 hours from home to find the vehicle. Dealer took care of everything, plates, paperwork, etc.Very satisfied! This is the 2nd time I have found a good used vehicle, highly recommend Cars.com!

great vehicle

I have 259K on it now and it doesnt use or leak any fluids. runs great and always has. I have the 5.0 v8 and would recommend this drive train to anyone. Gets decent milage for an AWD and is great in the snow. From MN so know about snow. The only repairs I have done in over 8 years is ball joints twice but as I put on alot of miles this was not too unexpected. Of course tires and brakes have been done also but that is it.
