GREAT car

This was one of the best vehicles I've ever owned!! It would have driven to the grave yard. I honestly had issues parting with it. Cried all the way home, even though I got a new car. My fiance talked me into another car that has been reliable but someday I will go back to the Altima.

Great reliable car

One of the best cars I've owned. The gas mileage is great. Owned the car since 2005 and did not have any major issues with it.

Owned this car since 2005 and it's very reliable. The gas mileage is great. I only filled it up once every two weeks or so.

Terrible Experience

When I first bought my Altima, I loved it. It is a 2002 and had only had one owner who took good care of it. However, after only owning it for 7 months I started having problems with it, and, at 8 months, the motor blew. I have heard good and bad experiences with Altimas, so others have had great experiences. I may have just had a string of bad luck!

Generally good car.

When the car ran, it ran very well. The Altima I had was the 3.5L V6 and the alternator, cool packs, and the starter all went bad one after the other.

Got Nissan? SORRY!

I bought this car new, and for the 1st 100,000 miles it was not a bad car. Then it started using oil big time. 1/2 to a full qt. per week. I am 70 years old and I am old school, so the oil was changed every 3000 miles. The floor board is rusted out and it will cost more than the car is worth to replace it. Two catalytic converters replace and it still very runs POORLY. In the shop right now. I have owned 3 new cars in my life time, but this is the only car of all my cars i would want my enemies to own, like the NISSAN CORP. I'd be ashamed to give this car away, which is what I usually do after I upgrade.

Very decent car

I bought an 02 2.5 s for $1500 in June of 2014. It had about 120k miles and some dents and scratches, but it was priced so cheap because it had the 5 speed and nobody wanted it. I've heard all the horror stories about the bad cat converters and oil consumption, but I'll say that after putting 70k miles on the car I haven't had a speck of trouble. It did need sway bar bushings and rear brakes and spark plugs but other than that it runs like a dream. It loves the 3000-5000 rpm range. I am heavy on the throttle but it gets valvoline or mobil 1 full synthetic oil and a k&n filter every 3500 miles religiously, and I also use archoil fuel and oil additives. I believe these things contribute heavily to the continued performance and reliability. I also believe that premium lubrication is also why I have no problems with valvetrain and timing chain noise on a 200k mile engine. The seats are not very comfortable IMO, and wind/road noise is a little excessive. However, the stock non-bose stereo actually sounds pretty good, and I'm a sound engineer by trade. It even had a plug on the back of the radio I was able to use to wire in an aux input for my phone music player. Overall great car-if you take care of it. If you neglect it then it will probably leave you stranded. I can really only say I'd recommended it to someone who knows about cars because there are a few things you need to keep an eye on consistently-oil quality and quantity, condition of cat converter, and cooling system condition. This is not a car you can neglect.
