Most reliable car I owned
I am the first owner of 2008 Nissan Altima. It has been very reliable and trouble free for my daily commute for past 12 years. Well maintained.

Good engine, bad everything else
I got an 07 2.5s used from my late father in 2010 with around 50,000 miles. I ran fine until the 75,000 mark when the CVT started jerking once I released the throttle. The torque converters on these awful transmissions clumsily activates to slow the car. It's part of the fuel efficiency measures, but it's a nasty quirk that forces me to have my foot on the pedal to keep it from happening. I panicked and changed the transmission for $2,400 when all it needed...was constant, never-ending fluid changes. *sigh. CHANGE the tranny fluid. Change it when it jerks, when it whines, when it shudders. It's the Jatco CVT - the worst CVT in the world. I tried everything. The dealer NS-2, STP, Castro, Walmart - nothing. The only thing that seemed to quiet it down was the Redline CVT. It costs more than the dealer fluid but it probably saved my 2nd transmission. The whining and jerking dramatically decreased although I still needed to baby it. It rattles and is a rough ride. You'll NEVER fix it unless you're willing to spend countless hours taking apart the vents, door panels, and dash. I just stuck business cards into the many gaps between the radio and vents, bought noise dampening tape and lived with the dash creaking. Engine burns oil. Valve cover seals suck. Water and Power steering pumps will need replacing after 100,000 miles, belts are crap - one of the belt pulleys fell off in the highway forcing me to spend a cold night puttering the overheating engine to a local mechanic in Madison, NJ and waiting for the place to open. It handles like a toad. The stock tires are a safety hazard in wet or snow. Get All weather tires immediately and learn to drive with the sport mode in inclement weather. The CVT will accelerate or decelerate on it's own. I had it 'reprogrammed' at the dealer - might as well have spent the $150 on lotto tickets. The only thing that never truly failed was the engine, where I regularly changed the oil myself every 3,000-5,000 miles. But it's a loud, clanky engine. Still the car lasted 350,000 miles until the CVT decided to accelerate on wet pavement causing the car to fishtail and slam into a wall. RIP you old soldier.

Excellent value! Excellent car!
My wife absolutely LOVED this car! This car was her little hot rod for the last 5 years! She loved the leather interior, privacy glass, Bose sound system and ice cold A/C. She used this car as a daily driver, commuting about 4 miles a day to and from work.

This car has a nice looking design. It’s not very fast but it is great in gas. I enjoyed having this car very much but I had to get a 4 door.

Great Reliabilty fuel efficient car
I bought it brand new and had never had any issues with it at all, just change the oil and have regular maintenance done and it runs great. I love the Bose sound system and the moon roof. I think this car could last 500K + miles!

Test Drive
I went to the dealership to look at some cars . I seen a 2008 Nissan Al 2.5 a. I like the vehicle but I heard some things about the CVT Transmission issues. So im.not sure I want to go through this issue. The sales guy said that there hasn't been no issues with the car , just that he changed a fuse and the vehicle has no other issues. There was 2 other vehicles 09 Camry, 09 Sentra , considering . I like them all. Can someone tell me what I should choose?
