Style over Substance

When I was looking for a new car I knew I didn't want a boring old car I wanted one to stand out and be stylish. I think I got that with my new Beetle. I love it. Fun to drive and goes well with my style and aesthetic. Only issue is that the ride is not the smoothest or quietest.

Reliable,fun to drive.

Great car, love the stereo system. Love to drive "top down". Love to drive fast. Service has been great. Except for doubling the price I paid for repair. .Twice the quoted amount.

Great looking and practical

I bought this car on a whim because I was tired of driving a boring car. I have been pleasantly surprised because it is a fun car to drive...and practical. The trunk is deceptively large and the cabin can fit people both tall and short. I was also impressed with how well it handled in snow.

Another VW Winner

This car comes in all shapes and sizes, find one that suits your lifestyle. We went with the R line model that has the upgraded automated manual transmission, luxury interior, and fast engine. It truly feels like a premium German car, not a cookie cutter common car. Find the right one for you!

Bye Bye TDI

At the time of this writing the VW TDI scandal has already been part of our lives, those who own a TDI, for several months. So, I am a bit biased. I purchased my 2014 Convertible Beetle in April 2014. I had a hard time finding one with a manual 6-speed transmission but I held out. I decided I wanted a TDI engine after driving my husbands 2012 Golf TDI. At the time seemed like brilliant engineering as car drives like a sports car yet gets amazing gas mileage. I never had a problem with the engine (other than unknowingly polluting) but we did have a few problems that others in the market for a recent model convertible beetle may be interested in: 1. Right after purchase had an issue with the driver's side outside door handle. Felt like it was not pulling properly. Took 3 visits to the dealer to get it fixed. 2. We live where it gets cold in the winter. I had a few miserable mornings when I could not get the window to go back up from the small drop it does when you open the door to get in. The windows have an issue freezing up. 3. Have 28K miles on it now and there is an annoying rattle in the passenger door. Still under warranty but because I will be selling it back to VW in a few months can't be bothered to lose a day of work to go fight with the dealership. 4. Windshield wiper fluid low warning light is always on even though I had it checked once at dealership and there is fluid in the tank. Minor problems that can be fixed under warranty so this is a warning that you may be spending more time than you like at your dealer if you purchase this car.

What a Beetle!

Purchased a used 2014 Beetle Convertible (white with camel interior and top) that was a trade-in at a Chrysler dealer 6 weeks ago. It is a birthday present for my wife's 70th! She fell immediately in love with it (she had one when she was 18) and wants to drive it all the time. She just loves having a drop top and everyone notices her and her "Doddlebug". She put "eyelashes" and flower decals on it to make it her own. Women go crazy over it. So far the car runs great, gets good mileage and is very comfortable to drive.

becoming a mechanical nightmare

love my 2014 TDI, it fits me great and is comfortable and fun. But it's rapidly becoming a mechanical nightmare. It was just in the garage four weeks ago and going back again in two days. Drivers seat when from constantly falling (but dealer says it's fine! If it was fine, I would be sitting on the roof to drive for as often as it needs adjusted!!). Now seat doesn't work at all. Horn quit working. Brakes screech. Engine hesitates. Drivers window stopped "dropping" to go under the canvas top so I can't close the door until the window decides to work again. I'm not confident of this vehicle being reliable long term.

One HOT Little Car!

I purchased a 2014 V W Beetle TDI on Valentine's Day, and what a valentine she is! I drove the little car up California's beautiful Central Coast for a week of vacation and she performed like an absolute champion! She gave me an amazingly smooth ride, very easily passed everything I urged her to pass, and topped it all off with a cool 37.87 mpg on the open road (32+ mpg on an eqal combo of city/highway driving). I bought the basic model of the TDI and the sound system is excellent. The only thing I would like to change is that I would add automatic headlights if I could. It is not a problem at all to find a filling station that offers Diesel #2 fuel. I find it readily available wherever I go. I would definitely recommend the Beetle. I will be using her for all my driving needs, ranging from household errands to extended road trips. She is the perfect vehicle for me.

Perfect for tall people!

I have wanted a Beetle my entire life. We have 6' tall twins daughters (my husband and I are both 6'2") and have each owned a minivan since they were little. When they left for college, we went car shopping for a car "just for us" with no backseat room for passengers. :) I sat in/test drove several small cars (Focus, Cooper, Mazda), but the Beetle (Denim Blue R-Line Turbo - adorable!) was the only car that made me smile just sitting it. It is very comfortable and perfect for 2 people - possibly 4, if the front seat passengers aren't tall. I love the head room and do not feel claustrophobic when I sit in it (a problem with my old minivan). It's interesting that I get the most attention from girls under 20, women over 40, and elderly men ("I used to have one of those!"). I received my 10,000 mile service notice yesterday (I bought my Beetle in April 2014), but my car only has 6,200 miles on it. I need to go on some long drives.
