Excellent Car

I've owned a 99 Jetta for about 4 years so far and it has been a great car. As long as you do the simple oil change and regular maitenence it seems to be fine. I've heard alot of rumors about this model not being as good as the old ones. HA this one actually has a stronger frame and for features and most of all doesnt look like a box.

My First Car, My Best Car

Ive had this car for a while now and have had no problems. I mean 2 years have gone by and ive driven it everywhere and for those of you that put it down, think of this, its probably just the one you have thats screwing up. Dont put down the whole like of volkswagens.

it is one of my worst cars ever also

I also bought a jetta with 63 k miles on it just over one year ago. everything seemed to be good for the first 5 k miles or so. Then it was problem after problem with this vehicle. Carfax said their were no problems with the vehicle when I bought it. The Engine mounts have busted twice. Also, come to find out VW makes poor quality parts along with their vehicles. I had the check engine come on recently and took the car in to have a diagnostic test run. The catalytic converter is bad. This happened right at 90K miles. I had the dealership run a repair history on the vehicle. The converter had been replaced at 54k miles. It has about 35k miles on it and it is bad again. I researched the problem and it turns out that everyone else that owns this vehicle has had the same problems. I called customer care because the dealership wouldn't do anything about it. Customer care said that they aren't going to do anything either. So because VW makes sub-par parts I am left with almost a $2000 repair bill on a part that should last the life of a vehicle. Somehow though Jettas go through them every 30-50 k miles. DO YOUR RESEARCH !!!! VW's are known to have problems passing emissions.

Great Car!

This was a great car. It was my first newer used car. It runs great. I have had no problems, except regular maintence stuff (i.e. new brakes and new battery after 5 years). I've read other reviews... some good, some bad. But that is true for most used cars. My experience has been excellent!

horrible!

This was my first car, and it was not a good experience what so-ever. I bought the car for a $7,000 with 66,000 miles on it. In the past year I put close to $5,000 just to keep it running. The best way to describe this car is a bunch of problems that come together that will almost cost the retail price just to keep it on the road. This car made me want to never even drive another Volkswagen period! By the way, I have had my mechanic give me overall ratings for this car and they are not impressive in anyway. So as i conclude this review, im saying this car is a waste of money and you will put the amount you paid for it back into it with the repairs. This is a DO NOT BUY type of car and im being practical by saying that. Enough said, this car is not worth the time, money, and frustration that will come with
