Awesome Car

I bought the 2003 Wolfsburg Edition as my first car and i find it to be an extraordinary car. Hearing my turbo hiss as i speed along the street is sublime. The only complaint i have is that the car is a tad small for the taller driver. Definitely suggest this car to anyone that wants a good reliable car, but also wants to have a little fun while on the road

Auro Trans problem child

bought used with 65k miles. Trans started shifting hard from 3-4. Spent $1100 on fluid, filter and valve body repairs and it still does it. It doesn't give of any codes from the computer and they don't know what to do. and I'm frustrated with it.. (We love the steering and overall handling) Thinking about going back to a Toyota.

2.0L Jetta just sips gas al day

Overall this car has been good to me, not counting normal wear and tear I've haven't had a problem. With the gas prices now, it costs almost nothing to drive. Inside I have a AUTO trans with cloth seats. Nothing to complain about, seat warmers are the hottest ones I've ever sat in. The only thing to worry about is the back seating. It's fine for kids and teenagers, but trying to fit 3 adults in the back isn't comfortable for a long drive. As far as power, the 2.0L I-4 is ok, as long as you don't have to going anywhere fast, highway driving is good. It just doesn't have the get up and go, and going from 40-60mph and so on is a pain. But overall great car

Not a fan

So, when I started looking for a new car last year I was told that VW's are great vehicles. Maybe I got a bad one, I'm not sure. I purchased my 2003 Jetta Wagon in January 2008 and have, so far, had to replace all 4 sets of brakes, all 4 tires, all the rotors, a wheel bearing has gone out on me, the driver window regulator went out (in 7 degree weather), the sunroof leaks, the front doors both leak, the hatch leaks, the car makes so many sounds I couldn't even begin to tell you and to top it all off I now have to replace the catalytic converter and there seems to be an oil problem that the mechanic can't figure out. Also, it rattles the whole car when I press on the brakes and there is a weird hesitation sometimes. All of the problems listed above have occurred since October 2008 and its now April 2009. I go to the mechanic monthly for oil changes/check ups since I do actually drive my car for a living. When I got the car it was certified used by a VW dealer with less than 30,000 miles on it. It now has 88,500 miles and I can't wait to get rid of it. The one thing that I LOVE about this car are the heated seats. There's nothing like a toasty warm seat on a winter day.

Do Not Buy!!!

I have had nothing but trouble out of my Jetta. And of course it cost a fortune to fix the 100's of problems I'v had. It doesn't ride smooth, it shifts rough and has a electric problem that no mechanic knows how to fix. I'm not the only one that has had these problems. The only good thing i have to say good about this car is that it looks good. Take my advice DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!!

One of the Best

I have owned a number of very good cars over the past 30 years, and--even aside from the great value it is--the 2003 Jetta Wolfsburg is one of the very best! It handles like a charm, is very nimble, has timeless styling and many practical and thoughtful features. It's most comfortable and a joy to drive, with great gas mileage to boot. From 2003 when I first bought it to the present, a very reliable car, with no problems at all. Just keep up with the recommended maintenace.

One of the best cars out there

I own a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI and I love it! It has so many useful and exciting features. The biggest concern I had when I was researching potential cars to purchase was fuel effeciency. I drive this car to and from work 5 times a week, roughly a 30-45 drive each way, and I only fill up once a month!!! There is a mixed review regarding Jetta's. People either claim it to be very reliable, or they experience numerous amounts of problems. Luckily, for me, my Jetta is still rolling smoothly on the road with a whopping 369,000 kilometers on it! The Jetta TDI uses the same engine as the Golf TDI, and my friend's Golf is beginning to approach the 600,000 kilometer (372,600 mile) mark!!! I would definitely recommend this car for anyone who plans on keeping a vehicle for many years. It's well worth the higher listing price. The only two flaws I found are as follows: 1. Sluggish/slow acceleration from stop to go. 2. Relatively smaller interior space for taller drivers. If you're a street racer and enjoy fast take offs when the red light changes to green, this is definitely not the car for you. That being said, diesels have been known for their slow acceleration; however, at higher speeds the acceleration is perfectly fine. If you're on the highway and you want passing power, the Jetta TDI will not fail you. The Jetta is considered by some as a compact/smaller car and by others as a medium-sized sedan. I would not recommend this vehicle for taller drivers. Even with the seat pushed all the way back, my knees are still slightly bent, so leg room is somewhat of an issue for the taller drivers out there. One engineering design Volkswagen has thought of is head room. Even though my sunroof takes away a little over an inch of headroom, the comfortable seats can be lowered meaning I have plenty of space. This is great especially considering I'm 6'5". The telescoping wheel is simply perfect for customizing your driving style. Overall, the 2003 VW Jetta TDI gets a 5/5 Stars from me!!! >=]

A Joy

My 2003 Jetta was the 1st car in my life & I loved it. Loved the way it handled, felt on the road, LOVED the dashboard with the blue & red lights! Was all the car I needed. Wonderful German engineering and a great value for the money. No problems with it ever and have always wondered about the spotty reputation concerning them.. mine was terrific. Well built/ styled & engineered.
