Very reliable, luxury value

Being my first Volkswagen, I?m quite impressed. The interior design and electronics give a luxurious feel at a great value. With the air bags and other safety features, I?ve never felt more safe in a sedan. My other vehicles are SUVs. This gorgeous car gets 24mpg average and can really take off!

Great starter car!

This car did not have a ton of features but made up for it in reliability! I thoroughly enjoyed my little Jetta. It was the first car I purchased on my own and I would do it again.

Sportwagen fun

So my review is of a car that Cars.com doesn't recognize : 2009 Jetta Sportwagen, mine being the 2.0T TSi version. Aka GTi wagon aka family grocery getter in sheep's clothing. This car is an absolute blast to drive, its basically a GTi with a larger trunk ! Who doesn't like a wagon anyway ? Its got some issues, panoramic roof creaks and I am careful not to open the shade all the way - with fear it won't close, as its a common issue. My car has been heavily modified so roof tends to creak from my very large heavy sway bars. Upgraded suspension and double+ the stock power of the 200hp engine, she still drives like a regular wagon but moves like nothing with a large trunk like this should. Engine wise its been very reliable, I being a mechanic know about teething issues some of these early 2.0Ts are susceptible to so : I've updated the timing chain tensioner to the newest revision, and installed a updated PCV system and aftermarket (bullet proof INA version) rear main seal. DSG transmission has been excellent, even when handling double the engine power. Nothing else has really failed on this car, its approaching 100k miles and it looks LIKE new inside out. Leather has held up great because I've been conditioning it regularly. Getting into this car will make you think its a new car because it even smells like new still. Too bad many of these wagons are no longer on the roads, thanks DieselGate. But mine being gas turbo is a pretty rare bird, only 3k of them made only in 2009. Love the look on a sports car driver's face when a wagon blasts by them :) VW needs to make a Golf R SportWagen available for the USA.

No big issues on this VW

I really love the Jetta Wagon. The Space the engine and the comfort for the price. I added a hitch to it in order to make it even more practical. I only ever had minor issues like a sensor here or there which didn't cost the world and were easy enough to replace myself. The regular maintenance didn't break the bank and the little bigger items i could do myself no problem (like breaks and rotors, airfilter, etc.)

The best car I've ever owned

Extremely reliable, go the job done for me for several years without any major issue. The A/C was great, kept the car cool constantly. Feels like this car could last another 100k miles.

Great Vehicle for the Cool Guy

Excellent choice. The ladies will go for it. It looks good, it handles well, and the ladies will like the look on the inside and outside. It has some miles but they are highway miles.

Just stay up on maintenance...

If you keep this car maintained - you will have no real issues. Great car, stylish, roomy and really fun to drive. You may encounter some odd repairs because it is German manufactured, however, they are not difficult to fix and is worth it.
