There were way too many mechancial problems. This car was treated with extra special care and too many things failed. The repairs were very expensive. We will never own another VW.

i rated 5 stars on comfort because it is a very comfortable car surprisingly roomy and a very smooth ride i rated 3 stars on performance because it is an average car it wont peel out and you wont be drag racing in it but it is faster than the average car i rated 4 stars on handling because on several occasions i had to turn around in a city street and it dose it with no problem i rated 5 stars on exterior design because i love the arch design that is not commonly found on the streets i rated 4 stars on interior design because i liked the two color dashboard that reached out far and makes the windshield slanted i only rated 2 stars on features because it had a tape player that we could never use because no one has tapes anymore and the electric windows broke after only a few years i rated 3 stars on value for the money because we were going to pay $400/month for 6 years but it broke down in 5 years i rated 5 stars on reliability because we never once had to take it to the mechanic except for oil changes and tune ups and it always started and you just knew it would start but it broke down majorly when the transmission lost 1st 2nd and reverse and we couldn't fix it we had it 5 years and 120,000 miles and we took it every where and it was good to have because it got 50 mpg city and nearly 70 mpg highway and we could get nearly 800 miles to the tank on a road trip i would buy another one anytime

a great car buy one you wont be disopointed. it has lasted longer than the bmw honda and toyota i bought after it.

I bought this car since I had to drive an hour each way to work and can't say enough about it. It drives great and handles well, plus it's fun to drive with great gas mileage. I haven't had ONE problem with it, in the eight years I've owned the vehicle. It is a little more on the expensive side to have a dealer maintain vehicle, but it is WELL worth it. With the back seat down, I fit a glide rocker and ottoman in it. The sales people at the store couldn't believe it! The paint job on this vehicle is the best I've ever had. This is a wonderful car to own!

After having driven only trucks or wagons we opted for something fun. This car is fun to drive, surprisingly utilitarian (with the rear seat down we can fit a months worth of groceries and a German Shepherd). It handles like a sports car and gets excellent mileage (38 highway at 70 mph). Very comfortable seats on the long drive. It's power locks can be quirky - they some times lock without being asked to. Don't rely on dealer for repairs, dealerships don't know what they are doing. Other than expected repairs nothing extraordinary has come up from 99 to 07. It's had a few recalls for electrical things but nothing dramatic. Overall good vehichle.

I've had it for a year and a half, and the car has been out of commission for repairs over half that time. Pieces keep falling off the car (like the headlights while I was driving down the road, etc). VERY EXPENSIVE to get repaired. My car was having the problem that it would die while you driving down the street (surface, freeway, highway, long or short trip). It took me several thousand dollars and 6 mechanics to figure out what was wrong! So far I have had to replace almost the entire engine after a year, and it is again having problems! I bought a car for $400 once that had less problems than this car has had! Fun to drive, but I hope you like paying for repairs and taking the bus while your car is in the shop!

Fancy, Stylish, Easy to handle and Comfy. Everyone will say something or look at you behind the wheel. Also, you can save some money at the pump with this high gas prices.
