Not too much power, just enough.

This car meets expectations and is a great family/commuter car. I just wish it had more power. I love this small suv and feel that the trunk space is great. My passengers in the rear seats are always happy to have the right amount of space too.

Pretty Reliable Car

The car itself is very good, my only complaint is the tire key is a pain. I bought the car used and the tire key didn?t come with it so it?s been a nightmare getting the tires changed because universal nuts do not work on this car.

Don't Do It.

I bought this car used (lease return) with ~20,000 miles on it. It has had at least one major issue (>$2500 to fix) at least once every 5,000 miles (usually more frequently, but it's never gone more than 5,000 miles without being in for something major). Add to that the minor issues (clock spring x 3, intake valves gunked up and needing to be cleaned, even with premium fuel, etc.) and it's a freaking money pit (I only keep because I got a rocking warranty for the life of my ownership). When it works and isn't having an issue, it is fun to drive...fast, responsive, etc. but I would advise against this vehicle unless you have deep pockets and enjoy having to take your car in for several days at a time every couple months. Like I said - Just Don't Do It. Worst reliability of any car I've ever owned, hands down.

Stay away from!

I have a 2011 with 62K miles and have had it in for repairs 4 times since 12/17. It is now in for a new turbo and a preemptive change out of the timing chain tensioner which was ready to fail. Oh and they are replacing 2 springs in rear. With a few other minor items this bill will cost me $4850!! I have had it in for every oil change required and any recall update. Non of this is covered by a warranty but I understand there is a class action suit against VW for the timing change tensioner issues. I am a 68 year old woman who is very easy on my cars and takes care of them. VW is at fault for these issues that are costing me thousands of $. I would never recommend a VW

Did not live up to my expectations.

100,000 miles, regular oil changes/maintenance and the engine siezes. Cost to repair is same as what I owe on it. Extremely annoyed after reading other reviews and seeing multiple complaints with same issue. Now wondering why it was never in recall? Never dealing with a Volkswagen again...ever.

Total Lemon!

I have a 2011 Tiguan with 55K miles and have had 5 problems now with the engine, all different problems. Every 7-8K this car breaks down and needs to be towed. It has broken down twice on the highway and stops accelerating, engine fluid was leaking, stalled going up any type of incline, etc. In addition, the license plate holder has broken off and the gas cap lock as broken resulting in not being able to put gas in the car as it was jammed. I purchased this car when it came off of a lease with less than 20K miles on it. It has major flaws in the production and I don't recommend purchasing a Tiguan at least a 2011.

Expensive to keep on the road

Purchased this vehicle 2 years ago. In the first year I put $8000 of work into it. At 100,000 miles everything needed to be done. Despite this their continues to be an issue with misfires regarding the turbo. Many fixes tried and many more dollars spent and the check engine light remains on. However performance of the vehicle has not been affected by the turbo problem. Runs very well. Disappointed in the excess expense of this vehicle.
