He seemed very accepting of all my questions and trepidations about buying a new car. I was a bit disappointed in the financing, having to go with a higher interest rate than I wanted, given my down payment and high credit score, but Gustavo did a good job of explaining the reasoning . All along the way, each person at the dealership (on a very hot day!) was kind and solicitous.

One of the best daily drivers for the money in my opinion. VW got the 2.0 TSI engine down pat for this generation, very reliable and tunable. The interior is quite comfortable, even the backseat. I’m 6’ 1” and can sit behind myself decently, the same can’t be said about many SUVs and sedans.

I purchased a 2017 Bolt and was pleased with the professionalism of Dominik, the Internet Sales person. The whole process was straightforward and they made sure that I was satisfied. The point-of-sale rebates on the EV were all accomplished.

The one weak point is that there is a design defect. The exhaust manifold leading to cylinders tends to get clogged up. Must be cleaned every 60 k miles (200 dollar job) to avoid head gasket replacement. Otherwise should run forever. 250 k miles and doesn't use drop of oil. 2014 is known to be vintage year, with all kinks worked out of generation 3 - except for aforementioned. Besides being ultra reliable, the car is simply the best use of space and readily available fuel possible. Enormous cargo space with back seats down. Up, passengers have room almost equivalent to full-size sedan. Simply best car ever made. Just look out for traction battery expense. But even that can be mitigated using rebuilt batteries and independent shops.
