This is my 4th Electric Car. It has limitations (no fast charging), but it also is fun to drive and has a lot of storage places inside...seriously. I used to have a LEAF and still have a BMW I3, Tesla Model X and this in the garage. The ED is my go to for quick around town drives. Yes it takes 3 hours to charge if empty...but I knew that going in...and have never come home empty in any of the EVs.

I love this car! It's my second smart, only this one is a convertible. It's fun to drive, cute and turns heads. The convertible top is easy to use by one person. People stop me in parking lots all the time to ask about it and to take photos. Shifting is a little rough in the lower gears, but man, will she go. I've had her up to 90mph a few times without protest from the engine. I can comfortably pass slower traffic. You get a bit of road noise at high speeds. I bought the car 900 miles from home, and really enjoyed the trip back. A small seat cushion is a good idea on long drives, but she's perfectly comfortable around town. I can park nearly anywhere, a big plus in big city parking garages and on the street. A big thumbs up for the Smart Fortwo!

A well rated car after the generally negative review above. I have been driving them for over two years now and just love their road character whether in the city or on long trips. I have also learned that they are tough little cars and very reliable along with great NHS crash results, way better that the average. We are past the era of driving half acre size cars !

I have a 2016 and I an 6’ 4” my wife is 5’ and we are both 70. We use it every day and we live in a retirement community. We can park it right beside the golf carts. It is fun to drive with good gas mileage. It is not our trip car for sure but it takes up very little space up in our garage. It feels like a regular car once you are driving it . In fact it feels like a sport car. I don’t get out of a regular car very well but this is almost like a SUV to get out of. Our other car is a Genesis GV70 Sport Prestige . When we go from the Smart to the GV70 you think you are in a Bentley! The 3 cylinder vibrates or shakes (not crazy)through the first 5 mph but after that it is fine. It is not a car for everyone but for us it is the cat’s meow. We use it every day while the GV70 goes weeks without moving.

This has been a great vehicle for the last 6 years. It saves a lot of space in the garage, it's fun to drive with the manual transmission, and it stands out amongst all of the other cars on the road. It is a perfect fit for the beach town that I reside in. I have also driven it on long road trips and it was completely comfortable and capable. Personality and unique details seem to be difficult to find in most new vehicles today. I am grateful to own "compact, forward thinking" transportation that never gets boring and continues to turn heads.

The Salesperson Made an Amazing Car Buying Experience We went to CarMax in Independence to look for a mid-sized SUV with relatively low mileage at a reasonable price, and we found what we were looking for. A 2022 Chevy Equinox with less than 19,000 miles, in great condition and at a price and payment terms that are acceptable and affordable. I have bought a few cars in the past and I always went to “traditional” dealerships to purchase them. This was my first experience with CarMax and I can honestly say that I was blown away by the relaxing and laid back, yes I said relaxing and laid back, car buying experience! No sales pressure, no haggling over price, just a straight up purchase with no hidden or confusing terms or agreements. Everything was laid out on the table. Plain and simple. The salesperson, Austin Hubbard, was a pleasure to work with. We were facing a very difficult personal situation that could have easily made the car buying experience extremely challenging and stressful. Great little car. I sold my first one and realized I need it. Great on gas and never had any issues. Why the didn't take off on the US I will never under. I have had multiple back surgeries and can't get in and out of most cars. The Smart Car is easy to get in and out and had plenty of room inside and I am 260 pound man. I have plenty of room.

Had a vehicle delivered from elsewhere and a good experience. Quite a lengthy process but the sales rep was much easier to deal with than at conventional dealers. Would return.

Having purchased only new vehicles my entire life, I found myself in need of buying my girlfriend a certified used vehicle from a local Honda dealership. After the salesman ignored our desires and instead try to upsell us, however, we decided to try Carmax instead. From the start, Carmax offered a helpful hand online and friendly service over the phone: they were quickly able to find what we needed and provide attractive financing in a flash. Once at the dealership, Haseam did well in helping us -- his knowledge and friendliness were impressive, especially since I havevworked in the service industry for many years . Because he did not try to upsell us, but rather did his best to educate us on what would work well, (coming in on his day-off to finalize the deal), I must commend Carmax and its associates for providing a memorable experience. This is my third Smart electric. I leased a 2013 and a 2016 electric (if I bought either, I would have had to continue leasing the battery, which didn't make sense for me). I leased a 2019 electric and, since they've stopped selling the Smart in the US, I've decided to buy this one (which comes with the battery - yay!). I love the Smart for its utter cuteness and tininess. It has like a zero degree turning radius, and I'm able to zip in and out of anywhere. It's perfect for my needs, as I tend to do mostly local driving, and I occasionally take it on the freeway if the drive isn't too long. With regenerative braking, I usually get at least 80 miles with each full charge. The only issues I've had with this car are (1) when I first picked it up, it died on me within the first week, and it took the dealer 28 days to reboot and fix everything, and (2) the cup holders aren't adjustable, so my big water bottle doesn't fit (my other Smarts had adjustable holders, so why did they change this?). After driving Smarts for 9 years, I can't really drive other cars -- they all seem so huge and cumbersome. But for longer drives, I do borrow my husband's EV, which has a longer range. I did consider at some point getting a Fiat electric and test-drove one, but it just wasn't as cute as the Smart. Its adorableness makes me happy every time I come out of a building and see it waiting for me. Even after driving it for 3 years, its cuteness still sometimes takes me by surprise!

I picked up my 2011 earlier this year with 30k miles on it. It's a Passion with pretty much all the available options from that model year, with auto transmission and paddle-shifters. Once I got used to the automated-manual transmission, this thing is quite fun to drive. Using the paddle-shifters can really help in certain situations, too. It has plenty of pep, and moves quickly around town. Even on the freeway I find it quick and easy to get it up to 70 and to keep up with traffic. The cabin is fun, comfortable, and very spacious for the two passengers. I have more leg room and head room in this than in anything else I've owned, and I'm 6' 2", so that counts for a lot. The back hatch space isn't huge, but more than adequate for errands, light travel packing, grocery shopping, etc. I routinely get slightly more than the estimated fuel economy it is rated for, both for in town driving and freeway/combined. The ride is the biggest drawback to the Smart. Short wheelbase translates into feeling every pavement crack and chuck hole. At speed, it can be quite jarring. Also, on the freeway, tire ruts and strong winds require two hands firmly on the wheel. The optional bluetooth system (a factory option that replaces the clock in the right dash-mounted double gauges) work seamlessly with current smart phones for phone, navigation, music, etc., better in fact, than many newer cars' systems do. The "glass" roof in mine has the standard hazing effect these are prone to (makes the glass roof "sparkle" when looked through in certain sunlight conditions). I use it as my daily driver for a 12 mile commute of combined local and highway roads. The car has been very reliable, cheap to operate, comfortable, and fun to drive. It makes me smile.

I just wanted to comment on how much I like Carmax customer service as a company. I bought me car from Carmax in Nashville Tn about 2 years ago and had great experience. Then few months later I my car started making a noise on the front end. Took back to Carmax in Nashville They put me in a rental car till the next day till they got it fixed... Which was great. They repaired my car free and payed for the rental car. Then April 6th I was traveling thru Jackson Tn and my car started making a terrible noise. I was very concern. Called Carmax in Jackson Tn took my car there they worked me in pretty quick. When they pulled the wheel off the found a pebble had past the dust cover and was rubbing between breaks and rotary. They removed the pebble and all was good. Thank God there was no damaged. Tech put my tire back on and sent me on my way. They didn't charge me nothing.. Thank you

I own two, one gas, one electric. Iam 6'3" and fit very comfortable in both. Excellent gas milage and about 70 miles per charge. Very inexpensive to repair and a very safe car ( titanium fram).

We came all the way from Warner Robins to find a specific vehicle on the Childe website and they were able to show us the car immediately, everyone was super nice, including Josh and Mr Jimmy Childre Sr. We walked out of there in an hour with our new car and a huge smile. We will definitely be back!

This is my 2nd one, 1st was used for a 150 mile + a day 5 day week commute to the DC area. It's in it's element for local driving, parking, mpg, fun to drive(especially with convertible). If you install a Scan Gauge and use the manual paddle shifters, mid 50 mpg is easy. Interstate driving keeps the mpg to around 42 +. 1st one had some issues, but incompetent mechanics were most of the problems. Replacement a/c hoses run $1200 each (2)does require Premium fuel, I alternated between mid & prem. each tank on the 1st. one. Get an extended warranty, any major repairs may have to be done by MB dealer.

Great on Gas, surprisingly roomy inside. not bought for Luxury served its purpose extremely well. Keeps up with traffic also great for parking in tight spots.

I have owned this car 2008 smart for 3 years and it work great some minor issues like engine light that was just gas cap and heater whlch i removed and cleaned. i live where it is cold and it will start in really cold weather most of the time. Got good tires and winter driving is good. With more attention this car would sell better in canada and states. would not part with it .

I use this car for business purposes. I drive about 1500 miles per month. I live in Colorado so it?s cold in the winter. I get approximately 42 miles to the gallon in the winter and about 38 in the summer because of the air conditioning. This is definitely not a luxury vehicle but it?s really not bad especially for the price. It has a great turning radius. There is a lot more room inside then you would expect. It has a very tight suspension so you are very aware of every bump that you hit. It also has a 70 hp engine so if you expect to get from 0 to 60 in anything less than five minutes this probably isn?t the car for you. However, I have never had any issues with the car and is very reliable. I have put approximately 40,000 miles on it since I got it and it currently has 60,000. My biggest complaint with the car is that rattles regularly, like something is loose but I cannot figure out what it is. It is worth mentioning that this used to be a ?Car to Go? and who knows what they did to it to fit it for their credit card charging systems, so this may be their fault. You can hear road noise quite a bit in this car. I love the fact that it is little and you can park it anywhere. You could make a U-turn basically anywhere. It does not go well in the snow so if you live in a snowy climate you might consider something else unless you have a winter vehicle.

I am small; it is small and we meld well. I have tried to make myself buy another car but I have been with this one for 7 years and as it turns out, it will with me until it gives up. Quite simply, I thoroughly enjoy having it. Still fresh and neat looking. Have great mechanic whom I don't require, often.

They are very helpful when choosing a car and getting financing. There is no price haggling because the prices are extremely fair...and I know how to verify the value of a vehicle. I recently purchased a 2019 Nissan Sentra with all the fixins'. I purchased the car for about $900 less than any other dealership I shopped. Plus, it was in great condition, except for some minor things one would expect a used car to have...but their service department fixed them very quickly and perfectly. My last car I purchased at Auto City was a 2011 Chrysler 200 which had 54000 miles. I am still driving that car in the family and it currently has 218,000 miles. My son bought a Toyota Matrix and drove Uber for 3 years, trading it in with 230,000 miles. Another car bought was a Chevrolet Malibu that was purchased and is driving great with no problems and well over 100,000 miles. All of the cars we purchased had no problem other than an alternator, battery and minor things like that when cars reached over 160,000 miles, and this is to be expected. We never had any major issues with any car, and no problem until many miles later after purchase. My most recent purchase at Auto City took in to consideration that I was self-employed this time. Isaac Duran, the finance manager, did everything in his power to get financing with a lower interest rate, and he did it. All I can say is that if you go anywhere else, you will pay more, put up with weird sales games and miss out on an easy, positive experience in buying a car. And, to boot, they will stand by your car for 6 months, 6,000 miles along side the dealer warranty (they have a huge auto service department to ensure the cars they sell are good). They have always backed us up and made buying a car a positive, easy, confident and a no-risk transaction. Anywhere else I went to check, I always got the "weird-ar" pegging out. Very good, honest people and great cars, with no worries! This is a very positive review, but there is truly nothing I can complain about after buying all of our family cars there for years. Talk to salesperson Mike or Alex...they are both very helpful, friendly and know what they are doing. The sales manager is great and ensures everything goes quick, smooth and I get a good deal.

I have not had to buy gasoline to commute for the last five years. It is unfortunate that Smart has withdrawn from the North American car market. I have owned a 2013 Smart ED and currently have a 2017 Smart ForTwo ED Passion coupe and just picked up the 2019 Smart ForTwo EQ Prime Cabrio. These cars are fun to drive, perfect urban, and suburban commuter car. Long trips take some planning but are quite do able. Published EPA mileage is way below reality. I average 70+ Miles per charge. Best mileage achievement was 129 miles between charges.
