GTI's do almost everything well. Economy, performance, flexibility, holds value, road car, back roads car, safety, comfort, feature-laden and now almost $10K less than the price of the average new vehicle. Two minor flaws IMO. All GTI's should have Golf R climate controls. Standard controls too confusing and fussy. Rather set it and forgot it. DSG is "still funky after all these years." Don't get me wrong, the lightning quick shifts and in-traffic ease are compelling, but DSGs can be clunky and feel strange at low speed and can't yet read all of your intentions correctly, thus some odd decisions/shifts on occasion. Not a fault, just a thing. Otherwise brilliant. GTI is among the contenders for "best" mass-produced combustion engine car of all time. Yes, that good. If shopping the used market, I would strongly suggest one try to get a Performance Package car. Much better brakes that won't need brake service as often and stop better. Also, the electronically controlled differential aids both traction and handling.

The engineering and design are outstanding . The driving experience is very special for this price range. It’s real fun to drive. It’s an icon. Let down by quality issues unknown to Japanese vehicles and ridiculous service and repair costs. I love the car but dread any encounter with the dealer in North Tampa.. I think their service charges are equal to BMW and Mercedes.

One of the best daily drivers for the money in my opinion. VW got the 2.0 TSI engine down pat for this generation, very reliable and tunable. The interior is quite comfortable, even the backseat. I’m 6’ 1” and can sit behind myself decently, the same can’t be said about many SUVs and sedans.

Today I walked in and was greeted by Mike at the front desk. He was really helpful, and walked me through the approval process which i have no experience with. I bought my golf new at the end of 2016 and would have kept it much longer if it had not been totaled in an accident. The few little issues I had were covered under the initial warranty (coolant leak, trunk leak). Nothing else other than normal maintenance things like brakes and tires up to 81,000 - that's as far as I can speak to. I took good care of it, did the VW service things for the most part and I have no doubt it would have lasted to 200K or beyond. It looked cool and was fun to drive. I had the S manual. I enjoy driving and had a tiny regret about not getting the Wolfsburg edition (faster engine, slightly better options like heated seats and sun/moon roof).

The New Beetle is surprisingly quick for a small 5 cylinder car. The AC is very cold, and it has all the features one would want. It handles easily and is fun to drive. The 5 speed standard adds a lot of pizzazz to it. And it is so cute!

Volkswagen did a great job refining the MK8 GTI. Key points -One of the best handling FWD cars mainly due to the LSD, XDS and suspension refinement. -Very smooth power deliver almost 0 turbo lag. - 40th anniversary has to be the best value purchase as it comes standard with DCC and IQ lightings which are only available on the highest trim. The negatives include: -The infotainment can be improved wireless android and apple car play need to be standard. Can't set your phone properly on the wireless charger when the phone is attached to the wire. - Compared to the MK7 the coin holder and the sliding storage below the driver sear is missing. -Unable to disable auto start and stop feature permanently as restores to default on every time you start the vehicle.

The car meets a perfect speed standard for specific drivers, if you want power when you need to pass somebody or just got a nice long road you want to open it up on, you can do it, very well if I must say, the 2.0t is a amazing motor overall, so many different things you can do with it power wise, just overall a great balance car, butttt your back seat is not the best in a 2 door, which is what I have lol, oh well

Just imagine you are about and hour and a half away from your house and the unexpected occurs. Your car is struck and disable. You find the nearest Volkswagon dealer and hope for the best. On this occasion I did find the best. Joe Heidt Motors offered me a service experience that was amazing. They immediately evaluated my car and determined that I was not able to drive it home. Then they offer me an loaner so I could get home to my child. Explained the process and started working on solving the issues on my car. One of the best parts of this experience is that I was always greeted with a smile and a very patient and understanding staff . Within reasonable amount of time they repaired my car, even with Covid obstacles in place, and returned my car in great working order. I bought my one year Golf after having one as a company vehicle. I had the wagon version preciously, but opted for the hatchback as I am a single man. I have the 1.6 diesel manual 5 speed trans in black . It is a comfortable and powerful small car and very good fuel consumption on the motorway/freeway. Excellent satnav in both the centre console and in the driver dash. Came with alloy wheels as standard and just a great looking effective vehicle.
