Beware, Auto transmissions in a certain year range have
Beware, Auto transmissions in a certain year range have KNOWN Problems by Ford. Google Focus auto transmission and you will learn. Our lightly preowned Focus Titanium AUTO transmission Failed at 67,000 miles and had to sell it at a break even price to a dealer to get rid of it. Frustrating as Ford does not stand behind its products at all anymore. I will never buy another Ford due to this other Ford jacked up issues. Engines, Transmissions all jacked up and Ford just runs away. Bye Bye gone. Poor investment, left my young daughter stranded. - Purchased a Used car

Buyer beware
2013 Ford Focus Hatchback is a fun little car to drive and I enjoyed driving it. However it has a dual-clutch automatic transmission which is very problematic. My cars transmission gave out at 77K miles which is average life for the automatic transmission. Ford has redesigned the components for the transmission and are better for the 2018 models and later. If you buy the 2013 Ford Focus Automatic you are never know when the transmission will go out. 2013 Ford Focus is relatively cheap to buy compared to other used vehicles. Basic Road Car / Commuter is OK
In Aug 2016, purchased the 2013 Fucus Hatch SE used in 2016, with 13,000 miles on it. With 35-37mpg on average with mixed driving. Early on OK without issues. Around 40K miles the transmission electronic control modual, ECM, needed an adjustment. The transmission is a learning transmission. It will learn how you drive and adjust shift points as your driving habits are learned by the transmission. My wife's driving habits are put it in drive and GO! My habits are different. Every now and then I will drive her car and shift the transmission as a manual drive, since the transmission is a manual drive transmission which has been automated. The engine and transmission only makes a subtle gurgle noise when as the car shifts from 2nd to 1st as the car comes to a stop. The car is sporty to drive, sensitive steering, good braking. It reminds be of a less expensive VW Golf. Currently we have 140K miles and the only wear on the car that shows is a failure of the heat shield and since I am a mechanically inclined guy who putters around fixing what is broken, there is wear on the clutches in the transmission, all due by my wife's driving habits of being a speedy driver. Since we already have it and its paid off, I will keep it. I will only purchase a Golf or Jetta when the transmission or electronic control module hiccups. I do realize the ECM has a recall if you're below 1450K miles. - Purchased a Used car

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR.
Biggest mistake I've made was purchasing this absolute xxx. Issue after issue with this car. Shuttering and jerking was a constant problem, had to get gas caps replaced several times. Driving on the interstate and it would suddely stop accelerating. Trunk latch gets stuck. The SYNC system is absolute garbage, you have to 'talk' to the car to use bluetooth and it never understands what your saying and takes 5 tries to get it to work if you don't just give up. Electrical issues on and off since owning the vehicle. Outlets in arm rest consol stopped working years ago. The Catalitic converter is completely shot at just around 112,000 miles and I have to get a new car or pay more than the car is worth to fix. The computer system needs replaced causing acceleration problems (on top of the ones it already has), faulty airbags, stability assist is stuck on, and many more issues. And with the chip shortage, there is a years long waiting list or more. It's had so many recalls... I've hated this car for a very long time and I'm extremely glad I'm getting rid of it. I am never buying a Ford again. It literally seems like they made this car with the cheapest xxxx they could find. Also the built in phone keypad is just stupid and is just to take up space because the car has nothing interesting to fill up the dash area. Anyone who says this is a great lil car got one of the very few that were made correctly, or they haven't had it long enough to see all the many wonderful issues it has to offer. - Purchased a Used car

Accelerating smoothly hardly never happens.

Terrible problem with the transmission computer and the double clutch system over and over again. Sad that Ford will not make this problem go away or continue to fix it. I took out a warranty Endurance and they wouldn’t cover after paying them for two years. I’m disappointed - Purchased a New car

A solid car for a newer driver.
I purchased a 2013 Ford Focus SE in 2019. It had around 47,000 miles on it when purchased. It contained heated seats, and a sunroof. I recently traded it in with an ending mileage of around 76,000. During the time that I had it, I can say that I did not have any issues. This vehicle is not the most flashy or high tech. The back seating is also very tight. But, if you are someone looking for a vehicle that will take you from point A to B comfortably, this will do it. I can only speak for the mileage that I drove it. A very nice 1st or second car for a person who does not plan on having many people in the vehicle. - Purchased a Used car

Bought a used 2013 in 2021...why? I have a 2005 zx4, that I absolutely love! That baby will xxxx & get, and even chirp some rubber! But it was time for an update (safety/mpg) Transmission shutter at low speeds/Cali roll. Shifting out of first is awful, I give myself plenty of time/space before I even think about pulling out in front of someone! (Rather drive my 2011 pilot) Use to get 39.? Mpg, now down to 32/33.( That'll be looked into) Radio now acts like a bowl of amp-ed up rice krispies! Stay away or go for an older one! Only keeping bc we got a deal, $6k & under 88k miles, and out of 3 autos still best for mpg & adding 60+ miles a day to it. Once/if used prices get better, it's gone!! - Purchased a Used car

Biggest piece of crap I ever bought.
Have had 3 clutch/transmission replacements. NOW THE TRANSMISSION WONT SHIFT AND FORD WILL NOT STAND BEHIND IT.. Car has only 83k miles. Clutches last about 25k. Ive replaced the following (known for issues) radio, seat belt, stabilizing clips, trunk wiring and more. DO NOT BUY A FOCUS!!! - Purchased a New car
