Consider Classics over technology
Newer cars are expected to perform and have all the "bells and whistles." While most are attracted to the "new car smell" and high-performance vehicles, I am enjoying my classic daily driver. Easy to work on if you can watch videos and follow instructions. If you are lucky you can find a classic for less than $5,000. The one thing that stands out to me is that the more money I put into it the more the value rises, unlike most new cars. If you are in a higher tax bracket and vehicles like this do not float your boat, then more power to you. I have put over 2,000 miles on my 79 450 SEL and maybe $300 in maintenance and repairs. Worried about finding old Mercedes parts? Well just go to Ebay etc. I find parts for less than $60 including water pumps, oil filters and so on. I would sell it to with the right cash offer and probably just do it all over again.
