I’ve owned this for 2.5 years, I bought it because it was as jeep and allowed me to drive it in electric mode. Few problems. I drive it almost exclusively in electric mode. Yes, there are times when electric is unavailable but that is due to not putting gas in for a long time. Once I even put in 2-3 gals. good to go.

Buyer beware - you were warned!

Great idea, poor execution. If you're looking for a vehicle that pops CEL's like candy and is tethered to the dealer for long term repairs, this might be the car for you. The PHEV battery recall and failure is the best feature of this vehicle, as who doesn't want a car that doesn't operate as it's supposed to and could catch on fire at anytime. I love driving mine when it works right, but that feeling goes away when the familiar friend arrives to spoil your day (CEL). Thankfully the 2021 has a 100k warranty on the hybrid system you will need it. This is a definite DO NOT BUY! It doesn't hold any residual value as no one wants them. @Jeep, do better!!

Owns this car

Vehicle has been to the shop 3 times for multiple days each time. Issues related to battery and charging and sensors on locking differential. Additionally, the shift from Electric to Gas and back is clunky and the engine is very noisy and un-refined sounding. We bought the car thinking it would save some commuting cost with the better fuel economy. Unfortunately, a commuter vehicle also needs to be reliable. The 4XE is not reliable! Neat idea, just not ready for prime time! Don't be an early adopter, they are just pushing tech out as fast as possible, before it's been fully testes and proven.
