Seller’s notes about this car
1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe® The dual pontoon fenders at the front of the Porsche 911 have always been a signature design feature of the long-running sports car. But for a few years in the 1980s, the company offered a different front end design, aimed to imitate the incredibly successful Porsche 935 race car that was dominating on tracks around the world at the time. These cars were known as âFlachbauâ (meaning flat construction) or in English, slant nose, for their wide sloping front end and pop-up or inset headlights. In period, this was a modification largely reserved for the 930 Turbo, as the cost to do the conversion at the Porsche factory was immense, but it became a popular modification that was done with varying degrees of quality on other 911s in the era. This 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera received a slant nose upgrade in the period and unlike most conversions, was done using all OEM metal from Porsche to ensure a factory-level of quality.® Finished in Guards Red, this Carrera shows a remarkable 15,411 miles and was delivered new to what is now Paul Miller Porsche in Parsippany, New Jersey. The original window sticker show the car was ordered with 15-inch Fuchs wheels, front and rear spoilers, a power sun roof and black headliner, making for a pretty nicely equipped example in period. Although little is known about who carried out the conversion, in person the car looks like it could have been done at the factory with a great paint match and the aforementioned OEM steel panels from Porsche. Along with the front end conversion, the car received updated rear fenders with air-intakes and three-slat grilles just in front of the rear tires which also would have been typical equipment on a Porsche-built slant nose. This car sits on a set of deep-dish Fuchs wheels with an âRSRâ finish and a second set of wheels with new tires are also included in the sale.® The interior is finished in black leather with some red leather interior accents throughout. Both front and rear seats are standard 1984 911, wrapped in black leather and comfortable with enough bolstering to hold you in. The underside of the dash and part of the added center-stack are wrapped in contrasting red leather, and the new center stack features an airplane-style altitude gauge, a Volt-meter and switches/controls for the air conditioning system. Above that in the dash sits an of-the-era Alpine head unit with a cassette player and AM/FM capabilities, and additional HVAC controls are to the left of that.
