This car is an absolute beast!
This car is an absolute beast! Not only is it a reliable luxury car but when you need that power it can pretty much take on anyone on the road without much effort thanks to the 523 HP and 553 lbs of torque! It rides like you are on air in comfort mode but as soon as you press that Sport Plus button it’s Mr Hyde! Wow what a machine. Love this car. - Purchased a New car

An understated really powerful, fast gem of a car
This car looks like a regular 5 series (except for the M550 badge on the rear). You'll know it's not when you hit the gas pedal. With 523 ponies, It roars. At the same time a very comfortable cruiser. Love the massage seats on a long drive. The engine sound can be adjusted if wanted. Kind of a gimmick, because it is fast no matter how is sounds. If you are looking for a really fast car that visually (and hopefully litterally) stays under the radar, a great choice. Be carful, at 100 plus miles per hour, the car is begging you to go faster, which it will. A governor keeps it at 160 MPH max. - Purchased a New car

By far best car I’ve ever driven period!

So far..amazing
2020 550 is amazing to operate. Laser lights big difference and acceleration is non stop. Braking is precise. Made for the race track. Comfortable and ready to preform. Wish BMW made the dual exhaust more visually eye catching. A joy to be behind the wheel. Need to be aware of your speed with any limit signs. 0-60....enjoy it!!! Perfect combo of performance and comfort
Pros: The engine is magnificent- effortless power from zero to well into the triple digits. If you held off on buying the previous model with 456 HP, consider yourself lucky now that you have a chance to get this beast for about the same $$ ! Interior is slightly updated but with great standard features, beautiful fit and finish and way above the F10 gen. The ride is remarkable for its smoothness and quiet considering the 20" wheels with low pro tires. Nice big touchscreen but also preserved the rotary dial which I find more convenient. Perfect combo of parts and tuning from the M division but tempered with comfort of the standard 5series. Ideal car for a long cruiser with occasional spirited country drives. Great handling for a 4300 lb car with the steering feel of a much smaller sport sedan ( the smaller M-sport wheel helps) Cons: Mainly cosmetic. BMW definitely went for the sleeper look here- no real changes to the somewhat boring, but elegant exterior. Minimal cues that you're driving something special compared to a 540/530. The tires are actually so low profile they look a little small for the car despite the 20" rims. I wish the sidewalls were a bit wider to fill in the wheel wells more. The engine sound is notably muted compared to the 850 which has the same engine. As smooth as the acceleration is, it is definitely not as smooth through the gears or instant as the 850, which I think BMW did on purpose. And I don't like those little silver gills on the sides. Made the G30 look like a G70 - Purchased a New car

Great looking, refined, and ridiculously fast.
I was fortunate enough to get my local dealer’s one and only initial allotment of the 2020 M550i the day it arrived on the truck the first week in August. I absolutely love the look and the driving experience of this car. Even with 20 inch wheels, the ride is smooth on the comfort setting, and there is an absolute absence of road noise. The interior is first rate with plush but supportive seats and the new I-drive infotainment system. My favorite thing about this car, however, and the reason I bought it is the engine. I have never driven the 2019 model with 456 hp, so I can’t offer a comparison, but I can tell you that the 2020 with 523 hp is a beast. The acceleration is excellent from just about any speed, and I haven’t noticed any dips in the powerband. As much fun as this car is from a dead stop with launch control engaged, I am actually more impressed with it from 75 mph. I have to pay attention to the speedometer when passing because triple digit speeds arrive in a blink. It just keeps pulling and pulling relentlessly until sanity dictates that I let off the gas. I’m not a professional performance driver, so I can’t really comment on how this car would perform on a track. But what I can say is that for me the M550i is the perfect combination of incredible sports-car performance and daily driver comfort. - Purchased a New car
