My first car, probably won't be my last.
As a teenager (when I got the car) I wanted something that would stand out, be fun to drive, and be useful as a daily driver. The example I bought wasn't prefect, but I've experienced others and this car fits the bill perfectly. I've had mine for almost 4 years and I'm only selling because of going to college and will be driving every day. I've had three passengers in it, two bikes strapped to it, a mascot for a baseball game in it, a kayak across the roof and even camped in it once! There's a very good reason why more than 20 million were sold and still produced up until 2004. Of course, you sacrifice speed for those looks and that sound unlike any other. Values of these cars have been fluctuating a lot lately so it's hard to say when you can find one ready to go for a reasonable price, but you can get a decent late 70's example for around the $5,000 mark and I wouldn't be affraid to drive to Alaska and back... and you'd be comfortable the whole time!
