Consumer reviews

2022 Toyota Highlander - Platinum.
2022 Toyota Highlander - Platinum. Multi tone grey interior is very beautiful and seems very high quality. However, for MY personal exterior, the seats are a little too snug - pretty good seats overall. Exterior is pretty much like all of the rest of the mid-sized SUV's - OK; actually, a bit better than most. Our V6 motor is pretty good on acceleration and decent on gas mileage, but not great on either. Driving is pretty good, and it is a very quiet car. Major gripes - gas tank is way too small, which means more stops to refill on long trips. Trips that I could make with our previous Durango between cities could be made without a refill - now require a refill. The layout of the interior controls such as wipers and cruise are not located as intuitively as I would like. For example, no physical button for the AC - must use screen. Compared to my new Chevy truck, the layout of the screen is a mess. Major-major complaint - the vehicle suddenly applies its brakes in situations it shouldn't - and we are mild, not wild drivers. If someone is exiting on an offramp or onto a driveway and has absolutely cleared from your potential collision zone (not a threat to you in any way) this car will suddenly start applying the brakes. If someone enters into the turn lane in front of you, and this Toyota is pointing at them (such as on a corner) and the adjacent vehicle starts slowing (not in your potential collision zone) this car will occasionally and expectantly apply the brakes startling the driver and passengers. This is scary and unsafe and there is no way to change the setting to adjust for this! Dealership will not respond in any way to our comments on this unexpectant braking problem -won't even acknowledge our issue. If I stop and unbuckle my seatbelt to reach into my rural mailbox and want to drive to my home (on my personal driveway) the seat belt alert will start at first warning me pleasantly and then turn into an angry aggressive beeping stating that I should buckle up (on my own driveway) - and there is no way to push a button and buy a little time. Toyota, I always buckle IF there is a need to buckle. I do not need to buckle up on my personal driveway - yes, it is a long driveway. The vehicle thus far has been generally reliable, and I believe it will be reliable long term. However, I just don't need the supper-overly aggressive "safety" braking features kicking in when they shouldn't. Some or even most of the safety features work very well; however, unless they can remedy the over aggressive unnecessary braking, I definitely cannot recommend the Highlander or any Toyota for that matter. This is an expensive car that I expected more. - Purchased a New car

TURBO LAG!
Engine has been stuttering when gone from a dead stop to movement. It looks like 2023 Highlander owners have been having the same issue. I hate this car so much now. - Purchased a New car
