I bought a 2017 in 2019 with 35,000 miles.
I bought a 2017 in 2019 with 35,000 miles. It has been great up until 2024 when all my issues started happening. I have 64,000 miles on the car. I have had to replace the rear crankshaft seal, the timing chain and now there is an oil leak in the front. I have another Equinox which is a 2012. 80,000 miles and had to replace the timing chain. Another family member has a 2021 and has had no issues yet. - Purchased a Used car

We bought 2017 Chevrolet Equinox 4 cylinder.
We bought 2017 Chevrolet Equinox 4 cylinder. Pre owned with about 59k miles. It’s over 110k and we’ve had the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter replaced. Also 1 tire sensor. We’ve put the 2nd set of tires on the car yesterday. Always Michelin as recommended and brake shoes. I just have to say I still love my car. It’s paid for and I’ll drive her as long as I can. - Purchased a Used car

The car has major issues that the manufacturer is aware
The car has major issues that the manufacturer is aware of but has not done anything about. The problem comes from the oil consumption causing the engine to go out on you. It eats so much oil that it is impossible to keep up. They have recalled 2015-2021 except for 2017. I would not buy a CHEVY EQUNOX again no matter how nice it looks!!! - Does not recommend this car

I’ve had two Equinoxes.
I’ve had two Equinoxes. They’re great until they’re not. Both have had issues with quick oil consumption, and most shops don’t know what to do about it. The oil problem has caused timing chain issues on both. - Does not recommend this car

No warnig My 2017 Chevy equinox burned all my oil
Bought a 2017 Chevy equinox at 26000 miles and at 71000 the motor shook hard at a traffic light and then it shut down. The timing belt broke, looked oil level .. nothing.. still had 1500 miles for next oil change,, it never leaked. It burned it very fast and no warning lights gave me any type of warning. . Now I need a new engine!!! I think Chevy should step up to the plate and help me with this!!!!!!! - Purchased a Used car

Worst purchase, still paying on it!
I’ve had nothing but headaches out of this car. First the oil consumption issue which is never ending it seems, then there was the transfer case issue that involved me paying someone to take apart my car not once but twice until we figured out the work around. I am constantly having issues that naturally require dealership assistance to navigate the ECM issues. I have two years left to pay on this thing and it makes me want to rip my hair out and cry at the inevitable issues I will always have with this car. If purchased plan on ALWAYS carrying oil with you!!! Also it’s super sensitive to air intake issues so make sure your air filter housing is 100% secure at all times. Best of luck, but you’ll regret this purchase the moment you hit 100k miles so keep it under or prepare for major disappointment in the 2.4L engine. - Purchased a Used car

Exhaust System Fumes
I brought a 2015 GMC terrain Im constantly repairing something. I now have exhaust fumes coming back into the car from the vent when I turn on the heat. The odor smells like rotten eggs I took it to be repaired at several places no one can find where the leak is coming from. I read the articles on the vehicle on the manifold and catalytic converters for leakage the manufacturers have not put out a recall on the vehicles the car is very dangerous. - Purchased a Used car

Comfy inside terrible under hood
I have a 2017 chevy equinox it was used by 1 owner who down sized since they were an older couple who garage kept it and bearly drove it I got it with 40k miles on it but its caused me nothing but issues. This thing is amazing on gas its comfy to sit in if u have to for long drives spacious trunk area. But the engine sucks I've had to fill my oil up 6 times in 3 months and I bearly drive anywhere I've been to out of state 1 time in my car since its better on gas then my truck. And we just did a fresh oil change before we left (only went to virgina from pa). Came home from visiting family there and that was the beginning of a month threw I out the month I probably drive it short distances maybe 3-5 times a week since I had to get my kid from school. My oil was COMPLETELY gone like bone dry gone and I was only in virgina for 4 days didn't travel there since we were in an area where everything was and wanted to spend time with my nieces. But before I took it to the dealership I decided to have my mechanic dad check it out he checked my oil and it was dry he was confused so we filled it changed the filter again he examined everything underneath it and all no signs of leaking nothing so he thought maybe over heating nope my car has never over heated. He's still baffled on how my oild is just gone and now every single time I leave in my car which now is like 2-3 times a month if that i have to make sure my oil is there. This car is nothing but a headache and I want to just push it off a cliff but I won't cause I need a freaking car. - Purchased a Used car

GM negligence on oil consumption problems.
I've had two equinoxes and have oil consumption problems at about 100,00 miles on both the first one cost me $2500 to fix Now the second one is burning oil. I,ve t AKEN my SUV to my dealer to have the oil changed on the recommended schedule and GM has done nothing to fix the problem. I have never purchased a foreign auto but this will be my last GM auto. If you no you have a problem you fix it. - Purchased a New car

Worst headache, not reliable!
I bought this car pre-owned but with less than 100k. There have been the usual neverending issues everyone is complaining about. The not understandable engine oil consumption and burning. The PVC issue that blows the rear main seal. Window motors burning out, back windshield wiper won’t stay attached. This is just a sad and horrible purchase. No one I know that has bought one of these is having any better luck than me. It’s a constant worry, and I’m still making payments!! It’s beyond frustrating and has made me regret taking on a payment for the alleged reliability of a newer vehicle. - Purchased a Used car

Lemon stay away
I bought a 2017 equinox two years ago. It has 90,000 miles on it and I had to replace timing belt, main rear oil seal and the fuse box. Stay away. Chevy wouldn’t help fix rear oil seal even though it’s a defect in the suv. - Purchased a Used car
