Bought new in 2012 with 2.
Bought new in 2012 with 2.0L 5 speed manual. This car has been exceptional in every way. Never quits! Never stalled! 272,000 miles, 4 spark plugs, original clutch, just normal Maintenance using FOMOCO recommended oil & filters every 5,000 miles (synthetic-blend). It still gets 35-36 commuting and 38-39 Hwy. Incredible little car! Sad I can’t buy a new one! - Purchased a New car

I was never contacted about the TCM Module Re-Call But was about the Door Latches it saddened to know that Ford isn't standing Behind Their Productivity in this simi- Luxury Sports Vehicle it is a Great Vehicle to have is Great on Gas and is excellent in the city and on the Highway I Believe it Could Be Even Greater With The Quad Exhaust Turbine Engine with Shock Absorbsion with all the Bell's and Whistles to Boot - Does recommend

Ford Focus was born to be hatchback and manual transmission. I had two in Brazil and this one in US, bought from the first owner and now with 192K miles. No big issues, just normal wear. Stay away from automatics, SAVE THE MANUALS!!!!! - Does recommend

Bought it with 125K miles. Typical transmission TCM Problems. 2 or 3 times in the past year it has gone into safe mode with the transmission not wanting to shift properly.. After much stress and researching forums I figured out all I need to do is disconnect the the battery for 30 seconds.. This resets the TCM .. Good to go ! - Does not recommend

Not worth it, constant problems
Initially bought the car because of the cheap price and infotainment system thinking I’m getting a good deal, I soon found out that I was wrong. The transmission is the most common problem I have had with this vehicle. Had to replace the clutch after one year of owning it had to spend a lot on multiple repairs. Transmission often slips, bucks, shudders, and jerks when accelerating from first and second gear. The interior looks upscale but is kind of cheap feeling. Plastics tended to raddle and buzz and break. If you want a good car for a good price, don’t buy this, the resale value is garbage. Only got 1,500 for it. - Purchased a Used car

overall a good car, motor is reliable and so is everything else, the on problem with these cars is the transission, the clutches wear like crazy and its like all of the transmisson internals are made of glass, STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR UNLESS U ARE A MECHANIC and have the means to fix it - Purchased a New car

Reliabilty
We bought the vehicle used with 68000 miles on it. The first thing that went out was the power steering, luckily we had an after market warranty to fix otherwise that it would have cost us 19500. Then the power train control module went out, thank God Ford fixed that for free, but now it has 154768 miles being reliable, have to replace the front struts and a wheel bearing. I like the car. - Purchased a Used car

Stay far away from a ford focus!!!
One problem after another. Clutch just went out. Car is a piece if crap. Its in the shop more than I drive it. Nothing but trouble. - Purchased a Used car

Not worth your time and money!
This is my second attempt to review this car through cars.com and I would not recommend this car for various reasons. I tried to stay loyal to Ford as a Ford customer but shortly after I got this car I had several recalls including for a transmission even though I did not have to settle the transmission lawsuit that’s available on Google but they had to redo the computer module as well as replaced leaky oil gaskets and on top of that I’m still waiting to replace the radio that has failed on this car and I almost crashed when the speaker started popping and making very loud static noises. Even after replacing all the fuses the radio still doesn’t work and I’m gonna have to spend a ton of money to get an aftermarket radio and Ford should recall these cars and fix them for free but I doubt they’re gonna do that so while the car may be great on gasoline mileage (I’ve been averaging about 35 miles to the gallon) this car was not built with pride and respectfully I can no longer buy a Ford since they don’t take took shortcuts, not learning from their mistakes and this car definitely was over priced when I bought it. - Purchased a New car

Had to replace the water pump in 2022. Now my fuel pump has gone out, have to replace it in 2023. I wouldn't buy another 2012 Ford Focus. - Purchased a Used car

I really like this car a lot. It's has decent m.pg. I like that it doesn't have a gas cap. Love everything but, I can't see around the head rest very well, tried to take them out, but you can't - Purchased a Used car
