Transcript

Hey, this is Kelsey Mays for cars.com and we're in Chicago with the new Cadillac CTS. CTS has Cadillac's new face with a two-tone grill that's also on the STS and the Escalade SUV.
The grill kinda continues to the lower air dam and the headlights look a lot like last time. Now, the CTS competes with cars like the BMW three series and the Infiniti G35. For the all new 2008 model there's enough go to match the show. GM's new 3.6 liter V6 makes 304 horsepower, thanks to direct injection. The base engine makes 263 horsepower and both of them provide plenty of good acceleration. The all new interior has French stitching along the dashboard. Now that's standard and even though it isn't leather, it's a synthetic material. It will convince you and most of your friends that it is. The center panel has new buttons that aren't in any other GM vehicle. They're pretty straightforward even though there are a lot to sort through. Once you get the hang of it, they're arranged pretty well. Now the navigation system has a screen that comes up and down. The nice thing about it is, so when it's up, it's a regular all touchscreen navigation system with plenty of locations, zoom in and zoom out functions as well as real-time traffic. Nice thing about this is that the nav system, when it's not in use, it comes down and just use the top intercell to set your radio stations and do other more basic functions. Now, the Uplevel Bose sound system has a 40 gig hard drive. It records real-time radio in AM FM or XM satellite feeds, and you can rewind or fast-forward up to the minute of where the radio is. It's a lot like TiVo, but it works for your radio. The system can rip songs off of your CD or a compatible USB device if you have it. You simply plug it in to the USB port. It's included with the system and you can download your songs. Interior quality takes a little bit of a step down in the backseat. You still have your stitching and within lays on the door, but there's some pretty cheap looking plastic on the center panel and you can see some definite gaps here. The rear headrests are also a little bit hard, not very comfortable. Headroom is okay. As long as I don't sit up too far, I'm about six feet tall. Legroom is better. This is where I would sit if I was driving and there's little cutouts in the back of the front seat for another half inch or so of room. <v Narrator>For additional information on this car or any other, go to cars.com and our blog KickingTires.
