(upbeat techno music) Hi, I'm Kelsey Mays for Cars.com. We're here with the 2008 Infinity EX35. Now this car has some pretty cool technological features, which I'm going to walk you through.
Now, one cool feature is what Infinity calls scratch shield. It's great for cars in the city, because what it does is it basically uses a clear coat and resin combination to eliminate scratches over the course of two or three days. Now it works better in warmer weather and it works for small scratches like fingernails and whatnot. I have a quarter and I don't think we're going to try testing it out. Now, another cool feature is the Lane Departure Prevention System. It builds on a lane departure warning system, which puts a camera behind the windshield. A lot of cars have that feature. The Lane Departure Prevention System actually uses the Electronic Stability Control to keep the car where it's supposed to be. When it senses the lane markings and it senses that you're drifting too far toward them, it's going to pulse the brakes of one of the outside rear wheels and kind of just gradually move you back into the center. Nice thing is you can turn the system off if you want. And it's pretty subtle. The only thing you'll notice is a little bit of braking is your car kind as comes back to the center. And if you turn your wheel more than two or three degrees, it overrides the system and you can move as you want. The same also occurs if you push the turn signal, it disables the system and you can change lanes like you want. And many SUV's have backup cameras, but Infiniti's EX has an around view monitor. What that does is station four cameras on the outside of the car to create a 360 degree bird's eye view of your vehicle. Now the four cameras are kind of fisheye so that it doesn't look like a perfect 360 degree view, but it pieces together what surrounds your car pretty well. You have your traditional backup camera on this side, and you have your 360 degree view on that side. We're going to do is back into a parking space, kind of show you how it works. And if you get too close to something it's going to beep at you. (beeping sound) And when you back up pretty easily see where you're going to go because you can see the lane markings on the left, and as you turn your wheel left or right, it changes the silhouette of where your car is going to go. These cameras do extend a few feet out from the outside of your vehicle. Kind of see, as I'm coming on this side where the parking space is and where the cars are near it. And as I come in, you can kind of see a pretty good shot of where I'm backing in. But there you go. And we're parked. There's also another view if you want to change views, it shows you right up what's next to your bumper. Now a lot of these technologies cost extra, but they are interesting to have, and they certainly give the EX a technological edge over competitors like BMW X3, and the Acura RDX.
