Cars.com's Kelsey Mays takes a look at the features of the 2008 Nissan Titan's bed.
Hi, I'm Kelsey Mays for cars.com and we're here with the 2008 Nissan Titan. Now in our other video, we talked about the interior and some of the driving impressions.
Here, we're gonna go over the payload, the towing capacity, and most importantly, the pickup bed itself. Now, one of the things Nissan did for 2008 was make an eight foot bed available. (handle clicks) Tailgate drops with the dampening feature. So it doesn't really bang down. You can kind of let it fall. Now let's take a closer look at the bed. Total payload capacity is 2000 pounds, which is up 500 from last year. And it's pretty average for a full-size pickup truck. And there's a spray in bed liner, which resists scratches and dings. And Nissan says it's thinner than most typical spray and bed liners which preserves room. In fact, you can see it here that the wheel wells don't intrude that much. And there's actually quite a bit of room from side to side. Now you also get four tie-down cleats. They're pretty sturdy and they're removable. (metal clinks) And they go right along the side. They can hold about 200 pounds (metal scraping) and lock into any position, which is nice. There's an optional 12 volt power outlet, which our test truck has, but some trucks actually have a two-prong household outlet back here, which is even more useful. That's not available on the Titan. Now on the driver's side fender, there's a lockable storage area. It opens like so, and it even has a removable shelf inside. It's kind of a neat feature, but a lot of other pickup trucks have it too. And the smaller Honda Ridgeline even has a lockable trunk inside the bed itself. Now hook something up to the trailer hitch and the Titan can tow up to 9,500 pounds. It's not quite as high as the Tundra and some of the pickup trucks coming out of Detroit, but it's a pretty hefty number, all the same. <v Voiceover>For additional information on this car or any other go to cars.com and our blog Kicking Tires.
