(upbeat techno music) Hi, I'm Joe Wiesenfelder of cars.com. This is a 2010 Buick LaCrosse. It's the second generation of their midsize sedan.
It is a new platform and designed, partly, in China, which is, you know, probably seems a little bit weird, but Buick is a huge brand in China. It's a pretty bold look for a Buick, which is the direction they're kind of going in. Pretty large grill. This is a Buick signature. They used to be on the side. Now, they've got in kind of tucked in. You can't even see it from the side cause of this angle to the hood. It's kind of dished out. Another element, this is called the sweepspear. It's a line that dips down, comes back up a little more stylish than you've probably seen in a Buick before. And a small element here, this little body colored square. Basically, it allows the keyless entry fob to communicate, instead of basically bouncing off the chrome. A lot of cars have a button. It's like a black button. It's kind of ugly, or some other form that doesn't work every fourth time you use it. It's not a bad way to go. Now, the interior quality, very nice. I mean, to be blunt, GM has had kind of three eras of interior quality. There was the not-really-trying era. Then there was the trying, which was the previous generation LaCrosse. Not great. And then now, you have the trying-and-succeeding era. This really shows you what General Motors can do, when it puts the effort and the money into it. The material's quality is good. I think the design is kind of conservative, compared to something like the Cadillac CTS, where the display pops up out of the dash, kind of classic gauges, all really nice. And there's this LED, kind of, ambient illumination. It's a little hard to see, cause it's not dark in here, but generally speaking, a big, big improvement. Even though it's a midsize, this platform is a little different than the Chevy Malibu and the Saturn Aura. Still pretty roomy back here. The front seat is all the way back, and that gave me a lot of leg room up there. So, I could have even more. Pretty good that way. Headroom seems to be fine. It's pretty wide seat, too. There's that center floor hump, which doesn't make it the best possible seat, in the center here, but it's pretty wide, got a lot of comfort. And then here, optional of course, video screen. Two of them. Now the trunk, it's not a bad size, especially cause the backseat's pretty roomy. And aside from being a good size, with a pretty big opening, you've got a pass through in the center, and the seats fold. So, I haven't driven the 2010 Buick LaCrosse, but from the look of it, it's a much better car than the first generation. And I like the fact that they didn't try to make it the new youth brand. It's still kind of conservative, but the quality is up across the board. It'll cost more than the Chevy Malibu and the Saturn Aura. Ride a little smoother, a little more luxury. <v Announcer>For additional information on this car, or any other, go to cars.com and our blog KickingTires.
