(car engine revving) At Cars.com we test vehicles in a variety of different ways. From mileage drives and tailgating runs (car engine revving) to performance drives and car seat checks.
Today, we're gonna test the capabilities of a new van with a furry friend. With me today is editor Jen Burklow and her golden retriever Tyler. And this is the Ram ProMaster City Wagon with its tall roof line, sliding doors and huge cargo area, we're gonna put it to the test to see how well it can safely contain Ty. Jen, what are we doing with the van today? As part of our test today, we're gonna be testing the Gunner Kennels G1 Intermediate Crate, which was named the top performing crate by The center for Pet Safety. In back, the ProMaster City Wagon has loads of room for the crate. Jen, what else makes it dog friendly? There's a lot that makes this dog friendly. We have wide opening doors that makes it easy to get the crate into the cargo area of the van. We have a fairly low step in height. So dogs who are able to can jump right in and we have a nice wide bumper so that if you need to use a ramp, it has a stable base to sit on. It also has four cargo tie down hooks which are weight rated and we've attached four cargo straps that are also weight rated and you need cargo rated straps and tie-downs to safely transport a dog in a crate. So Jen, you recently took a road trip with Tyler in the back and two other similarly sized dogs in the backseat. How did the ProMaster do? The ProMaster did great. It has a nice wide opening sliding door. The step in height is low and there's a nice wide stable area to put a ramp if you need one. The back seat is long and wide enough for two dogs. I had them harnessed here in the Clickit Sport Harness, which has been certified by the center for pet safety. And I also like that there's a vent here coming from the front to the back that can keep the dogs comfortable. It can keep them warm, keep them cool. Great, so Jen, after traveling with Ty and two other dogs, would you recommend the ProMaster City Wagon to others? I definitely would recommend The ProMaster City Wagon to others, especially those looking for a van to accommodate dogs that will easily handle one dog or multiple dogs. Great thanks, for more information about the Ram ProMaster City Wagon, visit Cars.com. (mellow music) (door slamming)
