(engine turns over) The Honda Civic Hatchback is the third body style of this 10th generation Civic and the first Civic Hatchback to have four doors here in the United States. We're at the auto show with this prototype of it.
Now the Civic sedan already has a little bit of a hatchback profile. This Civic Hatchback obviously takes that to another level here. Wheel base is the same as the sedan. A little bit shorter in overall length. Now Honda says the interior will actually have similar rear headroom to the sedans backseat interior. Obviously more cargo space here in the hatchback because you have that height to work with. Check out the spoiler here. It really comes off the tail of the hatchback a little bit more than a similar looking spoiler on the Civic Coupe. This prototype here very similar Honda says to what we'll see when the production Civic Hatchback actually hits dealerships. You probably won't get a few things here though. We're thinking things like these bright green brake calipers, maybe some of the body work around the bottom of the car. Some drive train details Honda has already unveiled, the Civic Hatchback will come exclusively with the turbo 1.5 liter four cylinder, and they view a new six speed manual transmission with that engine in other body styles. Right now you can only get that with the automatic. That's to say nothing about the Civic Type R and the Civic SI which are still to come. So we're excited to hear a lot more details about this car and pricing which should all happen closer to what's on sale date this fall.
