(upbeat instrumental music) You may remember the Chevrolet Trailblazer, a truck-based mid-size SUV discontinued in the United States after the 2009 model year but actually continued overseas, a popular vehicle, actually in areas like Thailand and Bra...
zil. That's not this vehicle. This is the all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer. Yes, same nameplate, completely different car. It will actually be sold alongside the other Trailblazer in various markets but never the two shall meet, GM says. So, what's this? Well, this is actually a much smaller car-based SUV. It'll slot between the Trax and the Equinox. So, do you think this is too many SUVs? Well, actually SUVs are selling like gangbusters and Chevy isn't the only brand to keep proliferating them. We just actually saw here at the LA Auto Show, Kia do the same thing with the all new Seltos. So, where does the Trailblazer fit in Chevy's lineup? Well, it's about six inches longer than the Trax, about an inch and change wider, about an inch lower. And it rides a wheelbase, that's the space between the front and the rear axles, that's 3.3 inches longer, we're told. So, it really kind of aligns right between the Trax and the Equinox. Actually, shares a platform with the Buick Encore GX. That's kind of a larger than Encore SUV coming out from Buick soon. Obviously, Buick and Chevrolet both brands under General Motors. Exterior styling emulates the Blazer, that is Chevy's mid-size SUV. But the inside actually looks quite a bit different just in terms of dashboard layout. The Blazer has a lot of Camaro inspirations, the Trailblazer does not. Where the center console is kinda configurable for different storage needs. Actually, has a decent amount of storage space. The multimedia touchscreen powered by Chevrolet's latest system with smartphone integration and satellite radio capability standard. Now, the backseat, it folds in a 60, 40 split. Actually, the 60 side is on the passenger side. So, you can kinda fit a surfboard if you need to. Thanks to the fold flat front passenger seat, that isn't uncommon feature these days. With all cargo optimized, Chevy says, "You can fit objects in the Trailblazer that are up to eight and a half feet long." You combine that with the dual stage kinda rear load floor that can be in a higher area if you want, more of a flat load floor or a lower position, if you want maximum height. And there's actually, a decent amount of practicality in this SUV. When the Trailblazer goes on sale it'll actually start just under $20,000, we're told. And that will include the destination price as well as features like an automatic transmission and automatic emergency braking, a must have safety feature for any new SUV. Stay tuned, we'll know a lot more closer to the new Trailblazers on-sale date. That'll be in early, 2020. (soft musical chimes)
