While some automakers are phasing out their big five-passenger family sedans, Toyota is giving the Camry, well, another go round. Not everybody wants a full-sized SUV. And for those people, well, we still have these.
This is the new 2025 Toyota Camry. It's got some new styling, it's got a new interior and now it's hybrid only. So what else has Toyota changed for the '25 Camry? Well, let's walk through it. From a styling standpoint, it's a minor refresh, what we'd call it. You've got a couple of interesting elements, however. You've got this new hammerhead style grill, which Toyota says is gonna be appearing on a lot of new models coming across the lineup very soon. And being that this is an XSE trim, the top sporty trim, you've also got a lot of aerodynamic aids as well, such as these little canard winglets up front, which Toyota says actually do improve aerodynamics for the vehicle. You've also got new taillights out back, they're slimmer LED units. And this being the XSE, you've also got the black trunk lid spoiler up top. And below the bumper, you've also got a rear diffuser as well. The wheels on this one are 19 inches. Those are the largest ones you can get on the new Camry. In terms of powertrains, well there's only one. There's no more gas only version of the Camry. No more gas only four cylinder and no more V6. You can only get it as a hybrid. So it's a 2.5 liter, four cylinder, made it to a continuously variable transmission and two electric motors. It comes in either front wheel drive or all-wheel drive trim, which is also the first time we've ever seen an all-wheel drive Camry hybrid. Horsepower varies. It's either 225 horsepower for the front wheel drive models or the all-wheel drive models, which get a slightly larger rear electric motor, they're making 232 horsepower. The new '25 Camry has an all new interior as well. Something that Toyota is calling the open cockpit look. This is the XLE trim level. It's the luxurious one, the top luxe model, and it really does look fantastic in here. You've got really cool microfiber suede and leather on the seats, and you've got a new quilted pattern on the doors and on the dash. That really does look fantastic. I've never quite seen anything like it, especially in a Camry. It really does look tremendous. But if you want something a bit more sporty instead of a bit more luxurious, well, that's the other one across the way. This is the XSE trim and it's got a number of features in here that really do make it a little bit more sporty. Starting with this red interior, this is cockpit red. You never expect a red interior on a Toyota Camry. So when it shows up, it's really quite something special. But in here you've also got a number of new systems as well. All Camrys now have at least a partially digital gauge cluster. Normally it's a seven inch digital gauge cluster, but this one is now a 12.3 inch in the XLE and XSE. It's reconfigurable, it's big, and it's bright. It actually looks a lot better than some of the other Toyota digital gauge clusters I have seen recently. But you've also got this, this is the new Toyota Audio multimedia system. It's an eight-inch screen on lesser trim levels and a 12.3 inch touchscreen on the XLE and XSE. And it's got all the things you'd normally expect from a Toyota multimedia system. It's got navigation, audio, wireless, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. But the other part is you've also still got buttons. You've still got climate control hard controls here, which is fantastic. It's not all touchscreen stuff in the screen. In terms of the rest of the interior, it's pretty much standard Camry. It's very comfortable. You've got an optional moon roof in this one, which does cut into the headroom a little bit if you're pretty well padded like I am. But overall, visibility is good, comfort is good. The seats are longer and larger than they were in previous generations before. So again, it's more comfortable than before, which is kind of in a Camry hallmark. The sportier bits on this thing, well, you've got these shiny pedals, which are available on both the XSE and the SE trims, and you've also got paddle shifters. Although why you need paddle shifters for a continuously variable transmission in a hybrid, I'm not really sure. But hey, it's sporty, isn't it? And of course, as with any Toyota, safety is still paramount. And so the Camrys come with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 as standard, and that includes a suite of things, like forward collision warning, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, things like that. But if you really wanna up your safety game, you can also get a technology package for the XLE and XSE trims, which brings things like traffic jams assist, which is a stop and go, steers itself system for under 25 miles an hour on specially mapped roads. Now we don't have pricing just yet. That will be coming closer to the on-sale date, and that is going to be the spring of 2024. Now when we have more information or get a spin behind the wheel of the new '25 Camry, you'll be sure to see it on cars.com. (bright mellow music)
