The Toyota C-HR is all new and back for 2026 and, well, it's all electric. Yes, think of this as the sportier, cooler, smaller cousin to the existing and also refreshed Toyota bZ4X EV. Well, there's a lot to talk about this thing.
There's 338 horsepower, up to 290 miles range, and a zero to 60 time in, well, somewhere in the low five second range. Let's get into it. If those figures sound suspiciously similar to the bZ4X, well, no surprises there. It shares a platform powertrain and battery with the existing EV crossover. It's smaller, but it's not too small. It's still within roughly two inches in length to the RAV4. Unlike the gas-only first gen C-HR, the new SUV cannot only be had with all-wheel drive, but dual motors are standard, as is the larger 74.7 kilowatt hour battery pack. Range is a solid 290 miles, all juiced by a standard NACS charge port for charging at Tesla supercharger stations. Only, don't expect too much on the fast charge front. Toyota says the C-HR peaks at 150 kilowatts with 10 to 80% charge taking around 30 minutes. A mostly compelling set of figures, all depending on price, of course. Inside, well, we hope you like the bZ as much of the cockpit appears to be carried over. The digital gauge cluster, 14-inch infotainment screen, and dual wireless charge pads are all familiar bZ kit. No matter which trim you pick, which is only really between the SE and the XSE, comes fairly well equipped with heated front seats, power adjustable driver's seat, parking sensors, and a power lift gate. I definitely think the 2026 Toyota C-HR is gonna fill a niche that Toyota sorely needed to fill in its lineup. That being a more entry level EV when compared to the bZ4X. Now, we're still not sure on pricing on this or on sale date. We're hoping somewhere in the mid to low 30,000 range. We're gonna keep our ear to the ground and when we do learn more, you can read all about it at cars.com/news.
